Gov. Palin: Where is the apology and resignation of your attorney general?

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today posted this Status Update on Facebook:

Where is the apology and resignation of your attorney general, Mr. President?

Roger Ailes’ letter to Fox employees

A memo from Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fox News Channel Roger Ailes to employees on the heels of the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox News employees. “The recent news about the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox News employees, including James Rosen, calls into question whether the federal government is meeting its constitutional obligation to preserve and protect a free press in the United States. We reject the government’s efforts to criminalize the pursuit of investigative journalism and falsely characterize a Fox News reporter to a Federal judge as a “co-conspirator” in a crime.”

Another Pro Reporter Mistakes Palin Satire for Real News

satire-fact-check

One of the fundamental tenets in Journalism 101 is to check facts, ensuring that a story is covered accurately and truthfully. Satire is a form of humor often used for political editorials and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin – like every other person who has held elective office – has been the subject of satire. No one in politics is immune to the genre, nor should they be. It’s important to laugh at ourselves once in a while, especially in today’s hyper-sensitive, politically correct world where everyone appears to find everything “offensive.” But, a professional reporter should know the difference between satire and genuine news so as to cover it accurately, especially when the original publication is dedicated to satire….

Bill Hoffmann, NewsMax reported that The Daily Currant – “the Global Satirical Newspaper of Record” – wrote a satirical piece which had Gov. Palin calling for the invasion of the Czech Republic in response to the Boston terrorist attack. The Currant spun a yarn about Gov. Palin giving an interview on Fox – with whom she has not been under contract in over four months – in which she “confused Chechnya and the Czech Republic.”

Enter Wprost, a leading European weekly out of Poland which went into full-scale panic mode and published an article headlined, “Let’s burn Prague: Sarah Palin Calls for the Invasion of the Czech Republic.” The paper’s readers got the story right and questioned it on Facebook. The embarrassed Wrpost subsequently pulled the article, according to the journalism blog JimRomenesko.

On February 12, the Washington Post re-published as fact a satire piece to the effect that Gov. Palin had signed a contract to be an Al Jazeera host. Wrpost apparently followed in the Washington Post’s footsteps. You see, the Al Jazeera satire also was originally published in The Daily Currant – that is the “the Global Satirical Newspaper of Record.”

A reasonable person can draw only one of two conclusions: the reporters covering these stories are grossly incompetent, or covering satire as news is a new poor Alinskyesque attempt to smear Gov. Palin with a phony meme. You decide which it is.

SarahNET Radio: Chris Riddle Speaks on Gov Palin’s Twitter Effort for Cancer-Stricken Daughter

Vanessa Riddle’s proud father, Chris Riddle visits The Palin Radio Update with Kevin Scholla as SarahNET Radio goes international! The inspirational Vanessa gained worldwide attention when her wish to add new twitter followers rallied people all over the globe including Sarah Palin. All the way from Scotland, Chris updates Kevin on Vanessa’s fight against a rare form of childhood cancer. Find out what the Riddles think of Governor Palin’s efforts to help Vanessa and hear all about how a social media campaign took on a life of its own. Also, Governor Palin addresses her departure from Fox News with Breitbart News and some words of wisdom from Palin are highlighted. Plus, Steel Resolve, our weekly commentary with Sarah Steelman is featured. Obama is finally kept in check by the other branches of government.

Gov. Palin: The Voice of Those Who Have no Voice

On November 27, 2012, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin urged readers of her Facebook Page to follow Vanessa Riddle on Twitter. In her Facebook Status post headlined, Gov. Palin wrote,

Sweet angel Vanessa! We’re praying for you – for your health and happiness. You’re going to reach that ‘followers’ goal, by the way. Lots of people are rooting for you and will follow you on Twitter (@vanessariddle) and Facebook, so have fun with it!

Love,

Sarah Palin & family

Riddle, 12 had a goal to reach 100,000 Twitter followers, which was achieved. Thanks to Gov. Palin, Riddle is rapidly approaching 200,000 followers.

Since 2009, Riddle has been fighting high-risk Stage Four Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer for which treatment options are limited in the United Kingdom. Her journey to 100,000 followers was “a long slog,” said Chris Riddle, her father. Things started to pick up when Jessie J, a UK singer started following her. But, he described Gov. Palin’s support and the results it generated as “very phenomenal.” Riddle generally goes to Germany for treatment and will be going there this month. She has been responding very well to the treatments which have been ongoing for over three and one half years.

Though the Riddles followed American politics from their native Scotland, it did not directly affect them, so their interest in Gov. Palin was limited. But, after Gov. Palin’s Facebook appeal, Riddle said what she did was “phenomenal” and he thanked her for helping out. He said Gov. Palin made his daughter very happy.

The idea behind the Twitter followers is to get people to hear Riddle’s story and get help for her treatment.

Steel Resolve: Obama Checkmated by Checks and Balances

“Finally, last week the overreach of the executive branch of government and the consistent disregard of the Constitution was called out by a Court of Appeals decision overturning President Obama’s so-called recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board, saying what he did was unconstitutional. Thank goodness for the third branch of government, the judicial system, Keeping Obama in check,” Sarah Steelman said as she opened her Steel Resolve segment. She continued, “Unfortunately, there is little respect for the law in Obama’s administration. According to news reports, NRLB Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce said that the board, which now consists of three members including two of the disputed recess appointees will continue to operate as usual. Apparently, they will continue to issue decisions even though a court of law said they were not legitimate appointments. It also means the tax payers continue to pay their salaries.”

But, checks and balances work again. Steelman concluded, “well, thank goodness for the legislative branch of government. Sen. Blunt from my home state of Missouri and Ted Cruz filed a bill cutting the salaries of the two board members who were illegally appointed. I say ‘good for them for holding Obama’s feet to the fire and protecting taxpayer dollars.’ Once again, I am grateful for the genius of our founding fathers for designing checks and balances between the three equal branches of government. It may be the only thing that protects our nation from the [usurping] of power by the Obama administration.”

Mr.L: Sarah Palin Shall Thrive While Old Media Dies

In analyzing the media lies and spin following former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s departure from Fox News, Mr. L. said those who have maliciously impugned Gov. Palin and her family have had career ending crises, gotten sick, ended up in jail or even worse because of simple karma. He recited a list of those who predicted her political demise only to be found wrong. Ironically, many of those in the old media claiming Gov. Palin is irrelevant are themselves irrelevant, having tanked in the ratings. Piers Morgan for example is desperate to have Gov. Palin on her show, because of the ratings boost her presence would provide.

Mr. L said Fox News has become Liberal Media Lite, just as the Republican Party has become Democrat Lite. “I’m glad she left Fox,” he said. He referred to False Stories Spread on Gov Palin’s Departure from Fox, in which I wrote in part,

Simply put, Fox News offered Gov. Palin a renewal contract. She declined it so she can bring her message to a larger audience. By staying with Fox, her contract would have precluded her conducting interviews with other networks, except with rare prior permission. Renewing the contract would have meant more preaching to the choir – because Fox News’ audience is Gov. Palin’s choir so to speak. Those who say that Fox “dumped her,” are telling lies, plain and simple.

He also cited Mark America’s Sarah Palin Won’t Run, in which he said Gov. Palin doesn’t run. Rather, she stands against corruption and for what is right. He said aside from Palinistas who would love for her to run in 2016, the media would love it because a Palin run would bring them excitement, ratings and revenue.

Mr. L discussed the moronic ‘Sarah Palin’s fall from media stardom’ article by Howard Kurtz for its lack of logic and hypocrisy. He also discussed some idiotic comments on HotAir by people reciting shop-worn, hackneyed 2008 anti-Palin talking points and could not even spell either “governor” or the name of their purported “more qualified” politician correctly.

He concluded that Gov. Palin has a track record of proving all such people wrong.

Mr. L in his synopsis wrote:

Sarah Palin leaves Fox News and media liberals and moderate Republicans rejoice. With knee-jerk hatred they say “she’s done, dead, over.” How many times have Palin supporters heard this song? I review some distorted reports about Palin’s so called demise. Hey haters, did you hear Sloppy Joe McGinniss the lying plagiarist has terminal cancer? Yeah, karma’s a ____. If the media types want to see something truly “dead, done, over or irrelevant” they should look in a mirror. Does Palin’s decline to continue her contract with Fox News point to 2016? To Palin haters in the media and blogosphere: please keep declaring her “over, dead, done and irrelevant.” Palin has a tendency succeeding in things when people tell that she can’t or shouldn’t. She has a track record of proving those people wrong.

False Stories Spread on Gov Palin’s Departure from Fox

Image lies-crosshairs-300x107.png

Real Clear Politics reported on January 23 that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was not renewing her contract with Fox News. Scott Conroy cited an anonymous source “close to the Palins” as saying, “It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement.” Gov. Palin re-affirmed this account in an interview with Stephen K. Bannon, Producer of The Undefeated on Breitbart News and announced by her in a Facebook Status post. Bannon asked Gov. Palin, “what’s next for you?” She responded:

“I encourage others to step out in faith, jump out of the comfort zone, and broaden our reach as believers in American exceptionalism. That means broadening our audience. I’m taking my own advice here as I free up opportunities to share more broadly the message of the beauty of freedom and the imperative of defending our republic and restoring this most exceptional nation. We can’t just preach to the choir; the message of liberty and true hope must be understood by a larger audience” (emphasis mine).

No one from Fox News has disputed Gov. Palin’s account in any way, shape or form.

Despite the simple facts being what they are, a disturbing array of false stories have been published to the effect that “Fox News dumped Sarah Palin,” and that she is “irrelevant.” These phony stories have appeared in the usual left-wing publications such as Huffington Post.

The original Breitbart interview now has over 3,800 comments. The people who claim Gov. Palin is “irrelevant” cannot stop talking about her. When our Second Amendment came under attack, a major Tea Party group did not reach out to those some would consider “relevant.” They called out to the “irrelevant” one: Gov. Palin. That Facebook post yielded nearly 181,000 likes and 13,725 comments. How many “relevant” people would kill for these numbers? Time Magazine’s Senior Editor Mark Halperin acknowledged on the Today Show that Gov. Palin still “has so much star power.”

Nor, is Gov. Palin’s relevance strictly in the political realm. She is speaking at a leadership conference in March and is the gala keynote at a major event commemorating Terri Schiavo.

Fox News like any other TV network lives and dies by ratings. If you lose your ratings, you lose your show and no TV network is going to keep you a day longer than they need you. Irrelevant people are not offered contract renewals and most often don’t even get to complete an existing contract. If Gov. Palin’s ratings had tanked and she had ceased to be relevant, Fox News would have cited poor ratings and the decision to not renew would have been theirs. But, Gov. Palin’s ratings were strong and Fox offered her the renewal. As previously reported and stated – she declined the renewal so she can broaden her reach to new markets.

Gov. Palin is highly relevant. Her potential reach to markets outside Fox News strikes fear and loathing in the hearts of her enemies, because she remains – as Stephen Bannon put it – an existential threat to the way they conduct business.

BREAKING – Real Clear Politics: “Gov. Palin Parts Ways with Fox News”

File Photo from The Examiner: “Gov. Palin Fires Away at Murkowski” on a Fox News Broadcast

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin did not renew her contract with Fox News, Scott Conroy, Real Clear Politics reported today, citing an anonymous source.

“It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.”

Developing…
