SarahNET Radio: Could MO’s Mr. Smith Go to Washington?

Jason Smith stops by The Palin Radio Update with Kevin Scholla! The Missouri House of Representatives Pro-Tem has shown us the Liberty Pose and now he looks to show the Show Me State that he’s ready for Washington. Hear about Smith’s run for Congress in a special election, plus his thoughts on Sarah Palin and Sarah Steelman. Smith talks about striking the Liberty Pose and discusses the issues including farming, the budget, abortion, and more. A new site highlights the Liberty Pose, while a Palin hashtag ruffles Tucker Carlson’s bow tie. Governor Palin comments on the lack of a budget, the deaths of Marines in a training exercise and Harry Reid’s despicable response to it, and Obama’s visit to Israel. We’re getting ready for three high profile Palin speeches including her keynote at the Terri Schiavo gala. Also, a big happy birthday to Piper Palin! Steel Resolve, our weekly commentary with Sarah Steelman is featured as well.

#PalinLibertyPose, #SarahPalinDoes

Jason Smith is the first candidate or elected official to strike the #PalinLibertyPose. “We can’t have enough freedom. That’s for sure,” he said. All the #PalinLibertyPoses are being gathered at http://libertypose.com, which is functioning as a central repository for them. The site is “about standing up and showing patriotic spirit,” Scholla said. Copies of Our Sarah: Made in Alaska and Going Rogue are being given away in a contest on the site. The #SarahPalinDoes hashtag also trended much during the week – a response to Tucker Carlson’s “I don’t know what Sarah Palin does” slam.

Scholla said many Republicans feel threatened by Gov. Palin and won’t share a stage with her or invite her to conventions. He lauded Smith for standing with her by doing the #PalinLibertyPose. “You have to stand strong and solid for fellow conservatives,” Smith said.

How Smith Got the Nomination

Smith is running in a special election for MO-8, because the incumbent is stepping down. He was among 27 people who expressed interest in the party’s nomination. Some 86 people – the chairs and vice chairs of all 30 counties; and the chairs and vice chairs of all the legislative districts with the district – all had a say. Smith was the underdog and drove over 10,000 miles visiting committee members in barns, homes, and coffee shops delivering a message of, “personal liberty, limited government, and freedom.”

Sarah Steelman who lives in Smiths’s district supports his run and is a good friend. He’s known her family for years. Scholla said Steelman was so excited that Smith got the nomination it was as if she had gotten it herself. Smith had fought for Steelman during her prior runs and admires her standing up for conservative principles.

Smith on Farming, Budget, Abortion, Regulations

Farming is very important in Smith’s district which grows everything except citrus fruits and sugar. He hails from a small town of 5,000 and said we need more small town values in Washington, DC.

Smith said our nation has not balanced a budget for 51 out of the past 56 years and has not passed one at all in over fours now. Missouri laws require a balanced budget and we should do the same common-sense thing in Washington, he said.

He has served eight years in the Missouri House, is proudly pro-life to the core and said he will not “evolve his position” if elected.

The special election is on June 4. His campaign visited 27 out of the state’s 30 counties last week. This is Smiths’s second special election, his first being to the Missouri House in 2005. He said these elections are “about finding your supporters and getting them to the polls.” GOTV makes or breaks special elections.

Smith said we are over-regulated with over 170,000 rules and regulations on the books. Further if Obama does not get his way via Congress, federal agencies just start making regulations usurping all three branches of government.

In lighter news, Smith busted all his brackets in the first round.

Steel Resolve: ObamaCare and Profitable Non-Profits Cause of High Health Care Costs

Sarah Steelman said, as she opened this week’s segment, “This week, we got confirmation that our health insurance premiums will be going up – for some individual consumers as much as 116% and for small businesses somewhere between 25% and 50%. Insurance companies reported that the increase was due to changes in the law from ObamaCare and due to medical costs going up.”

She continued,

“We all knew that ObamaCare would force premium increases. But what about the ‘all other medical costs’ that keep going up? There’s no question that advances in medical treatment are nothing short of miraculous, however, many non-profit hospitals are making tremendous profits. Time Magazine recently did an exposé on non-profit hospitals and found no rationale for setting hospital charges. That’s why no one ever knows what anything costs if you ask them and coincidentally, that’s why they’re making huge profits.”

“In fact, the report states that the profit margin of these huge non-profit hospitals is feeding the problem by enabling them to gobble up physicians’ practices and smaller hospitals in the areas [they serve] leaving patients with fewer choices and insurers with less power to negotiate prices not to mention the six- and seven-figure salaries top hospital executives are being paid. There needs to be healthcare reform and Congress is not going to repeal ObamaCare. They should start looking at why hospitals are raking in the bucks.

Palin: Obama Admin Appalling, Atrocious on Benghazi; US Over “Fiscal Cliff”

“The Obama administration’s handling of Benghazi has been appalling and atrocious,” former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin tonight said during an interview with Greta Van Susteren from an unknown location. Gov. Palin’s remark concluded her answer to Van Susteren’s question on whether criticism of UN Ambassador Susan Rice was sexist. “They reach very far,” Gov. Palin said about administration spokespeople. “What does this have to do with skin color or gender?” She agreed with Van Susteren that giving Rice a pass is the real sexist course, because women should be held to the same standards, not lower ones. The Obama administration lacks transparency and honesty, Gov. Palin added.

“Four brave, innocent Americans were killed. The administration is playing politics instead of being straight with the American people.” Gov. Palin said Obama’s Press Secretary is “obstinate and arrogant. If I were in the media, I would be offended.” Van Susteren said reporters who express their displeasure tend to lose their access. “So what if we lose access?” Gov. Palin retorted. “The Obama administration is only feeding lies anyway.” Van Susteren told Gov. Palin that the Obama administration excludes Fox News from memos and briefings sent to other media outlets thinking they are “punishing” the network, but the other outlets ultimately share the information with Fox. Gov. Palin said “it’s just one more example of the lack of transparency of the Obama administration. Many other deceptions are part of this White House.” Gov. Palin said Susan Rice should not become the next Secretary of State.

Regarding the fiscal cliff, Gov. Palin said, “The House has great power. The House holds the purse strings and can un-fund things. We elected Republicans and conservatives to do that.” When asked about the fiscal cliff negotiations, Gov. Palin said, “we’ve already gone over the cliff: QE II, QE III, no budget in four years, borrowing. It’s just a question of ‘how hard are we going to thump at the bottom of the cliff?’”

“It comes down to leadership. The leader and cause of the same problems has been reelected for four more years of the same. He wants to create a fairytale utopia with failed fiscal policies,” Gov. Palin said, reiterating, “the House has the power of the purse strings and can un-fund. If the President of the United State is going to engage in socialist policies, the House needs to go around him.”

Gov. Palin said Secretary Geithner’s proposals amounts to nothing more than eliminating checks and balances and handing Obama a credit card that has no limit. She said it’s time to rein the debt in. “Washington, D.C. should become irrelevant in our lives,” Gov. Palin concluded.

Ted Yoho discusses legislative plans and more on SarahNET Radio

This week on The Palin Radio Update with Kevin Scholla: Dr. Ted Yoho is here! Just endorsed by Sarah Palin, this Christian conservative Republican is hoping to head to the House of Representatives. Yoho, a small business owner and family man is committed to taming a government gone wild. A veterinarian, Yoho is well equipped to go to Washington and deal with the weasels and worms that are undermining the Constitution. Yoho maps out his plans if elected, discusses Governor Palin, and even talks a little Tim Tebow. An interesting interview with a unique candidate. Also, Governor Palin endorses Arizona’s Paul Gosar and Maryland’s Dan Bongino, while calling for Todd Akin to fold ‘em. Plus, Wayne Brady apologizes to the Palins and Todd Palin rolls on in Stars Earn Stripes. It’s only on SarahNET Radio! Tune in anytime ON DEMAND!- http://www.sarahnetradio.net/.

Had Enough of Career Politicians

Ted Yoho is a large animal veterinarian who has also worked in a vegetable packing plant and on construction jobs. He’s been married for 37 years and Florida has been his home for 35 years.

“Gov. Palin set a new tone in the country for politicians. You know, being the hockey mom who went to PTA, who became the Governor, who became the Vice Presidential candidate and she just really rocked the establishment.” Yoho said he is running against a career politician and promises to term limit himself to eight years. He said that career politicians brought us the problems we have today. His campaign slogan is “Had Enough.” He beat a 24-year incumbent in the primary.

Gov. Palin’s Endorsement Excites Campaign, Constituents

Yoho said both his potential constituents and his campaign are excited about Gov. Palin’s endorsement. “She’s a new type of politician – not your entrenched politician – and we’ve had a lot of excitement around our campaign.” He lost track of the number of hits on the campaign website, but said “it’s grown exponentially.”

Scholla asked Yoho about press reports regarding Speaker of the House John Boehner contacting him. Boehner left Yoho a voice mail message, because Yoho was not available to take the call, and he said he was pleasantly surprised to hear from the Speaker.

Scholla asked Yoho how he was able to beat the incumbent, since some other candidates simply could not beat the establishment’s connections and money. Yoho attributed his primary win to a strong grassroots effort, a clear mission statement, and “plan the work and work the plan.” His one paid employee – the campaign manager – was able to amass an army of passionate volunteers and interns to help bring victory home.

Election About Economy, Jobs, Return to Core Values

Scholla asked Yoho if he planned on addressing any animal issues if elected. Yoho said, “this election is more about stopping socialism than a lot of the social issues. I know those are very important, but to talk about some of those issues when we’ve got $16 trillion in debt and high employment for the period of time that we’ve had it – would be like two guys arguing on the Titanic about paying a bar bill.” He continued, “our ship is sinking and we’ve got to save our ship.” Yoho said that the number of animal neglect cases has increased because of government policies and the bad economy. “People have been just giving their horses away, or leaving tied to a telephone pole on the side of the road.”

Yoho said this election is about the economy, jobs, and returning our country back to its core values. He regards the actions of the Obama administration as “smoke and mirrors” to distract from the real issues.

On Stem Cell Research…

Regarding stem cell research, a subject that Yoho was misrepresented in, he said that he has a strong background in biology and science and is also a Christian conservative who has no doubt that life begins at conception. But, he “understands the value of stem cell research” and that “you can get stem cells from so many different areas,” such as the placenta, the umbilical cord and even from an adult patient by reprogramming fibroblasts. He said there is no need for embryonic stem cell research and his answer was in response to a poorly written questionnaire. “The question was like asking, ‘do you still beat your dog?’ There is no proper way to answer a question like that and not appear guilty.” Yoho does believe in stem cell research, but not from embryonic sources.

Yoho said construction and agriculture are two principal job sectors in Florida and he is pleased to see an uptick in agricultural jobs and land purchases.

His website is http://www.tedyoho.com. He said any donations would be appreciated.

On Tebow…and Gov. Palin’s Endorsement

Scholla said that his daughter is a Florida Gators fan and a Tebow fan. Yoho said he “Tebow’ed” the night he won the primary, and said he admires the football player for how “he’s changed the course of how people look at religion” in our country, “and he’s not afraid to talk about it.” Tebow is a double-threat quarterback who graduated Florida University and went on to the Denver Broncos, then to the New York Jets. Yoho continued, “and then you get somebody like Gov. Palin. She speaks her conviction and she’s changed the face of politics, and I admire both of them and I’m proud to be associated with the Florida Gators. That makes us part of the Gator Nation, and Gov. Palin – we’re just really excited about her endorsement.”

Scholla said both Tebow and Palin come from great families. He noted that Tebow had sent his daughter an autographed photo. In closing the interview, Scholla noted that Gov. Palin has endorsed doctors, dentists, ranchers, and now a veterinarian – “people from all walks of life – and this is what the founding fathers wanted – not just lawyers talking about their 16 degrees, but not having any common sense to talk about anything in this world.”

SarahNET Radio Interviews Kirk Adams, AZ-5 on Bold Leadership

This week on The Palin Radio Update with Kevin Scholla: A perfect ten! Sarah Palin has endorsed ten candidates in 2012 and all ten have appeared on SarahNET Radio! Today it’s Kirk Adams’ turn. Adams is running for the House in Arizona’s 5th District. Also, Governor Palin serves up red meat and barbecue at a Sarah Steelman event! Plus, Ted Cruz cruises to victory, Palin visits Deb Fischer and makes a stop in Iowa, and calling out Dick Cheney on another misfire. TUNE IN NOW to SarahNET Radio ON DEMAND!!!

Adams is one of only three US House of Representatives candidates that Gov. Palin has endorsed in 2012, for she has focused principally on the US Senate this election cycle. Jeff Flake, one of Gov. Palin’s recent Senatorial endorsements is vacating the seat Adams is now running for. Prior to being a US Representative, Adams was Arizona’s Speaker of the House in that state’s House of Representatives.

30,000 Calls to Voters – In One Day – On Palin Endorsement

Scholla and Adams said that only Gov. Palin takes on the establishment of both parties and Adams’ campaign represents that. “We are all Palin all the time,” Adams said. His campaign made over 30,000 phone calls to voters in district in one day, to tout the Gov. Palin endorsement. Adams said, the voters “responded very well” and that the endorsement puts campaign once written off back in the game.

Adams Fought ObamaCare as AZ Speaker….

While serving at the state level, Adams led the Arizona fight against ObamaCare, helping to spearhead state legislation against it, and joining the Goldwater Institute’s lawsuit. Adams had to fight a liberal Attorney General every step of the way on this and other issues.

“ObamaCare worst legislation in a generation. It permanetnly damages the Constitution and will bankrupt states implementing it,” if it is allowed to stay on the books he said.

Bold Leadership…

Under Adams’ Speakership, the Arizona legislature passed SB-1070; took on Card Check; and fought to save the secret ballot in the work place. While Adams was speaker, he also was instrumental in passing a law requiring informed consent on abortion and when Planned Parenthood sued and won, Adams was instrumental in shutting down their abortion services in the state. The Arizona legislature also passed legislation preserving right to keep and bear arms, and on pension reform under Adams’ leadership.

From Free Fall to Surplus

Adams said that when he became speaker, Arizona had the worst deficit in country. “We were in a free fall, and still recovering from six years of a Janet Napolitano spending spree,” he said. “We passed a 30% reduction in spending and now have a surplus,” Adams said. Arizona has a balanced budget, while California still has a multi-billion dollar deficit. Adams said he “can take the same tough-minded leadership to Washington.”

Adams is a small business owner with 22 employees. “I sign both fronts and backs of checks, and I have to make sure expenditures don’t exceed revenue,” he said. “It’s great training for running for office…. we cannot afford to spend our children’s and grand-children’s money. We will have a less prosperous nation.”

Secure the Borders and Foster Legal Immigration

Adams said he supports legal immigration, but we must secure our borders first. “We know how to do it. We did it in San Diego and Yuma sectors. We must do it for the remainder. We have the methods but not will.” Along with SB-1070, Arizona also passed a law imposing sanctions on employers who hire illegal aliens.

Gov. Palin Seeks Patriots, Whether Incumbent or Outsider

Scholla observed that both Adams and Flake do not go along to get along. They are willing to take political risks for the right reasons. Adams was 35 and beat an establishment candidate twice his age when he became Arizona’s Speaker of the House. Adams said he believes that Gov. Palin sees both Jeff Flake and himself as bold leaders.

Scholla said Gov. Palin bases her endorsements in part on character and guts, whether the candidate be an incumbent or an outsider. She seeks great patriots.

To Donate, Volunteer, and Phone Bank…

Kirk Adams’ website is: http://www.kirkadams2012.com.

Adams also invited listeners to email him at info@kirkadams2012.com if they are interested in phone banking for the campaign. He said any like-minded conservative throughout the entire nation is welcome to do so.
