Gov. Palin: Here’s the great video from LA state senator who became Republican

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today posted this Status Update on Facebook:

Here’s the great video from a Louisiana state senator on why he became a Republican that Rush played on his show today.

Elbert Guillory: Why I Chose To Become A Republican

Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory (R-Opelousas) explains why he recently switched from the Democrat Party to the Republican Party. He discusses the history of the Republican Party, founded as an Abolitionist Movement in 1854. Guillory talks about how the welfare state is only a mechanism for politicians to control the black community.

Mr.L: I’ll Tell You What’s The Matter With American Politics

In his most recent segment, Mr. L reiterated his assertion that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin needs to run in 2016 to clean out the bad blood in the establishments of both the Democratic and Republican parties. The respective establishments are favoring Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush, the latter being a RINO who is on record as saying, “I used to be a conservative.” Gov. Palin would represent the Country Class, while the other two represent the Ruling Class, a theme that Mr. L has been consistent on.

RINO Book Signing for Low-Information Voters

He devoted the remainder of the segment to CSPAN’s four-hour long coverage of a book signing at the Key School in Annapolis, Maryland featuring “Democrats Lite” Michael Steele and Mickey Edwards. Both men are moderates and part of the “No Labels” movement. Mr. L said we should not be compromising with the left; we should be destroying them.

Calling Out Abortion is Right Thing to Do

Mr. L also slammed former Palinista Tammy Bruce for decrying the conservative calling out of Kermit Gosnell as making us look like “self-righteous jerks,” and “smug jerks.” Gosnell snipped the spines of live babies born after his botched abortions and threw their tiny bodies in toilets while they were still breathing. Now is the time to call out the wrong of abortion and to stand on our principles. He referred to Congressman Chris Smith who said “if Gosnell shot seven infants with an AR-15, it would be national news,” but since he killed them via abortion, we hear crickets.

RINO / Moderate / Establishment Dismal Failures

In his conclusion, Mr. L recounted the dismal failures of the establishment / moderate / RINO GOP, beginning with President George H.W. Bush’s reneging on his promise to not raise taxes. Edwards, who was on this book signing panel geared toward low-information voters said “anyone who keeps his promise to not raise taxes is childish.” Mr. L spoke about George W. Bush’s over-spending, mismanagement of the Iraq war, pushing of amnesty and adoption of liberal policies and the nomination of McCain, which gave us Obama’s first term. Romney “the electable one; he lost; he couldn’t close the deal; $100 million and he lost” gave us Obama’s second term. “Another moderate from a long line of them and they say, ‘we’re too partisan.’” Obama is “the most hyper-partisan, the most hyper-political president we’ve ever seen.”

No Compromise with the Left, RINOs. Destroy Them!

“I don’t want to compromise with the left. I don’t want to compromise with people who bash Margaret Thatcher at her funeral….I don’t want to compromise with people who attack Rick Warren when his son commits suicide tragically. I don’t want to compromise with liberals in the media who rush to blame right-wingers for the Boston terrorist attack, even though they were Chechnyan Muslim.

“I don’t want to compromise with a man like Obama who gets up at what is supposed to be a somber memorial and turns it into a pep rally or an Elmer Gantry revival show….No, I don’t want to compromise with these freaks. I don’t want to compromise with the RINOs who wish to enable the left and look the other way and attack us for doing what they should be doing as leaders of the opposing party. I don’t want to compromise and work with them. I want to destroy them.”

Mr. L’s Synopsis

After watching CSPAN’s Book TV panel with Michael Steele and Mickey Edwards, I know what’s the matter with American politics—its politicians and political figures like them. And if they are not the problem with American politics as a whole, they are the main problem with the Republican Party. These two men on this panel are the personification of why the pejorative term RINO was made. These men still believe that running moderate republicans is the way to win elections and save America. Question: How many times do you want to run moderates and lose before you understand that isn’t working? We should not comprise with leftists who are destroying the country. We should not compromise with these fake republicans who wish to enable the left’s bad policies instead of a pushing back at them like a real opposing party.

We should not compromise or work with them— we need to destroy them.

Obama Won. Now What?

A week after the New York State primary, I wrote, “A Sign of Things to Come?” which prominently featured this billboard that the leftist owners of Manhattan Mini Storage posted on their West Street/9A and 44th Street storage facility for months. The article was negative toward Romney and his primary competitors, but that is not the point. I noticed a trend that could have proven fatal to Romney’s election: low voter turnout. In “Sign,” I wrote about how Romney won New York State with less than 6% of the GOP base voting. Other states had similarly low turnouts. I concluded that poor turnout numbers in the general would result in Obama’s reelection. Unfortunately for us, that billboard became a self-fulfilling prophesy. Mitt Romney couldn’t beat Obama.

Why?

At least two articles suggest that poor turnout indeed was the death knell of the Romney campaign. Associated Press reporter Josh Lederman in Turnout shaping up to be lower than 2008, which was syndicated to the Kentucky Post, among others, said turnout in this 2012 general election – one so critical to the future of our country – was lower than in 2008. It gets worse. According to Lederman, the turnout was less than 2004 levels in many states! Conservatives4Palin‘s Editor Doug Brady expounded on how polling samples work and why turnout was fatal to Romney in: It’s the Turnout, Stupid!

“A comparison of 2008 election results and 2012 election results indicate Obama received about 9 million fewer votes yesterday than he did in 2008. But the data also indicate that the Romney-Ryan ticket received almost 2.3 million fewer votes nationally than the McCain-Palin ticket did in 2008. (Incidentally, that 2.3 million voter deficit is only marginally less than the number of votes by which Obama beat Romney in the popular vote.),” Brady wrote.

Brady wrote about how he listened to Rush Limbaugh yesterday while driving. I happened to also have been listening while driving between job sites. Limbaugh said this was a classic “turnout election.” That is, Romney’s success or failure would be decided by voter turnout.

Unity

Gov. Palin did unite behind Romney and called upon her supporters to do likewise – multiple times. She supported him in no uncertain terms since June and our community – in the main – followed her lead. SarahPAC gave his campaign $5,000. Gov. Palin kept her support low-key and chose not to speak at the convention or brag about the donation. She said she “wanted to help, not hurt and helping sometimes means stepping aside.” Many Palinistas, myself among them did step up to the plate, put our misgivings aside, and united behind the ticket. We made things very uncomfortable for those who refused, both in and out of our community.

But, Romney apparently did not close the deal with enough people to motivate their votes. Most Romney supporters were voting against Obama, and that is simply not a recipe for success. Was there voter fraud? There certainly were naked attempts at it in multiple venues that were well-publicized. But, Romney chose to concede the race and not pursue the matter of voter fraud. Whatever voter fraud did occur, Romney’s concession forever closes the book on voter fraud claims.

Christian Whiton, Fox News concluded that this election was a damning indictment of the Republican establishment and moderates such as Romney, Bush, McCain, and others. Whiton wrote, “Recovery begins with saying goodbye to this Beltway GOP establishment.” Whiton wrote that Romney and the party establishment took the conservative base for granted. Sounds familiar?

Sarah 2016?

Gov. Palin’s brother, Chuck Heath, Jr. posted “Sarah 2016” on his Facebook Page today. I think I can safely speak for all Palinistas when I say we enthusiastically support her running and would do all we can do to help get her elected. I dare say, we’d go to Hell and back to get her elected. On that level, I share in Chuck Heath, Jr.’s support of his sister.

But, I am not at all comfortable in building and pushing a “Sarah 2016″ narrative that originates from anyone other than her. “Palin 2012″ was born November 4, 2008 when Obama got his last electoral vote. Almost immediately, we forgot the narrative was ours, not hers. When Gov. Palin announced she was not running, it devastated our community because we invested so much in “her” narrative that was never hers.

Yes, I think “Sarah 2016″ absolutely must originate from Sarah Palin, and absolutely must not originate from us. Certainly, the Obama win creates a circumstance far more favorable to a “Sarah 2016″ run than a Romney win would have. But, latching onto and pushing the “Sarah 2016″ narrative as our own could set ourselves up for more hurt and disappointment. We’ve been there, done it and even got the T shirt. Gov. Palin running in 2016 or any other cycle is her decision to make, not ours and no amount of encouraging, egging on, or trying to force the issue is going to change this fundamental fact. Also, things are little different now that we are established supporters as opposed to four years ago, when many of us were wet-behind-the-ears fanbois and girls. Gov. Palin knows the support is there – we don’t have to prove ourselves by screaming “Sarah 2016″ everywhere we go for the next three years.

I think “Sarah 2016″ and the onus for pursuing it or not rests with Gov. Palin. She’s got 20 years of experience in politics. She knows how to file FEC paperwork and organize a campaign. As seasoned veteran supporters, let’s defer to Gov. Palin’s professional judgment and wisdom on this. Let’s support what she is doing and how she does it and learn the lesson that 2012 should have taught us.

Bold Colors Candidates

Gov. Palin’s final endorsement success rate for 2012 is 64.28% based on nine out of 14 candidate having been elected for either a primary or the general (two endorsements were made after the primaries in their respective states).

In my numbers, I count Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Gov. Palin said she was not using the words “I endorse” for him, because she wanted to draw attention to his Lieutenant Governor, Rebecca Kleefisch. Gov. Palin, however, reaffirmed her staunch support of Gov. Walker and explained why she avoided the use of endorsement phraseology in reference to him. Those who insist Gov. Walker not be counted are free to use 13 as the number of endorsed candidates. Gov. Palin’s 2012 endorsement success numbers improve to 69.23% overall with 13 candidates counted as endorsed.

Of the nine successful endorsements, seven went on to win the general, resulting in an endorsement success rate of 77.77% for this subset. These winners did not just eke it out. They won by landslides. This is as much vindication of Gov. Palin’s Reagan Conservatism as Romney’s loss is a damning indictment of the establishment which must be consigned to history’s dustbin. Most politicians would kill for Gov. Palin’s endorsement success numbers: 64.28% (or 69.23% if you don’t count Gov. Walker) overall; and 77.77% of her primary winners going on to win a general.

The 2014 mid-term election cycle gives Gov. Palin another round in which to purge, cleanse, and rebuild via candidate endorsements. So does 2016 and the off-cycle elections in 2013 and 2015.

Let’s Build a New First Party…

During this time, we need to root out the party bosses at every level. We need to begin the war against Rule 12 in earnest.

We need to be better about sharing things on social media. Don’t ask! Just share! That’s what the leftists do. We need to push Facebook to fix their mobile setups and their smartphone apps to enable sharing. Our devices are crippled from effective sharing. We should be able to share on our iPhones/Droids just as we do on our desktops. Social media is about sharing, not just admiring our own musings.

We need to leave our comfort zones. We’ve been too myopic and preached way too much to the choir. Having the “best” Palin site, the Palin site with the most traffic, or being the “most famous Palin site” means nothing if the larger world does not read our content or even know we exist. We’re just kidding ourselves if we think we have the Internet all wrapped up. We don’t. Not in the least.

We need to stop wasting our time on mindless conspiracy theories of all stripes and the toxic debates that surround them.

We need to work more and complain less. How many among us called for Romney/Ryan? Put up a sign? Shared campaign material? Live-Tweeted campaign tweets during the debates? Convinced at least one person to vote the ticket? How many of us did these things for Gov. Palin’s Bold Colors candidates?

Obama’s win and our failure to retake the Senate is our call to arms. So what are we going to do?

The time to rebuild is now. You do not need a title to make a difference. Leadership is not about the position you hold. Leadership is about what you do.

“Let’s have a new first party – a Republican Party – raising a banner of bold colors – no pale pastels – a banner instantly recognizable as standing for certain values which will not be compromised.”

-President Ronald Wilson Reagan,
1975 Address to Young Americans for Freedom

Let’s build that new First Party together…

Our work continues…

GOPe Lies About Gov Palin’s VP Candidacy Performance – Again

The Republican establishment has for the past eight months been promoting the meme that “John McCain having picked Gov. Palin to be his Vice Presidential running mate was a mistake.” The latest specimen in this barrage of lies comes from the CBS News article: McGovern’s VP choice offers Romney a cautionary tale. The story starts out well enough. In 1972, Democratic candidate George McGovern picked Sen. Thomas Eagleton to be his VP running mate. He did not properly vet Sen. Eagleton, who was “flabbergasted” at his own pick. It could accurately be said that he did not vet Sen. Eagleton at all. Eighteen days later, Sen. Eagleton stepped down. The good Senator, it turned out was receiving shock therapy for mental illness. The article’s unnamed author made the point that the Romney campaign was doing a thorough job vetting potential running mates to ensure a similar mistake does not recur.

What does Sen. Eagleton have to do with Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin? Absolutely nothing. But, somehow, the writer felt a great need to bring her into the subject, and that is where the eight months of lies about her VP candidacy come into play. The “Game Change” bilge was dredged back up with the disgusting implication that Gov. Palin is somehow in the same class and category of unfitness for Vice President or President as a mental patient receiving shock therapy.

This follows on the heels of former Vice President Dick Cheney saying that picking Gov. Palin “was a mistake” because she was “only governor for two years,” – which is two years longer than him, because he never held the office. Gov. Palin held the office in fact for two years and eight months. In that time, she overhauled the state’s tax system, ushering in Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share (ACES); she spearheaded the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA), which will build a 1,740-mile pipeline from the North Slope to a terminus in Alberta Canada, so natural gas can be brought to the Lower 48. She brought about ethics reform. Gov. Palin was also at every troop deployment and home-coming; expertly handled crises in her state; created a budget surplus, and improved the state’s credit rating.

She accomplished more in her 32 months, than seven New York State governors have in 50 years. She was the state’s Commander-in-Chief, including control over missiles intended to intercept ICBMs headed to us from places such as Russia, China and North Korea. Her office was like Grand Central Terminal for foreign consuls and diplomats with whom she met to discuss trade agreements and treaties. Then, there was the day-to-day stuff. If picking someone with this background was a mistake, then what’s a successful pick? Kudos to Liz Cheney who went against her own father, stood up and did the right thing on Twitter by defending Gov. Palin.

John McCain, who was at the top of the ticket said – again – that he was satisfied with picking her. He said he was proud of Gov. Palin and her work. He was the one at the top of the ticket. If he was proud of Gov. Palin and her work, that should end the conversation right there….

The Republican Party elites have had a fixation with getting this message out, even though it is patently false. “Game Change” was made specifically to push this lie. What exactly does Gov. Palin’s own party fear now? She announced nearly 10 months ago that she is not running for President. Gov. Palin remains a private citizen not running for any elective office. She may or may not even be personally present at the GOP Convention in Tampa next month. All we have right now is that SarahPAC put a $4,500 deposit on a rental space in nearby Channelside Bay Plaza. Her staff will be in the space, but that does not necessarily mean she will be there. So, why target her like this? Since Romney became the presumptive nominee, the Republican establishment has been working double and triple overtime to slime Gov. Palin as the 2008 VP nominee. The central themes are:

  • “Romney should not even think of putting Gov. Palin on his ticket.” With all the talk about Gov. Palin being such “a horrible VP candidate” for McCain, one would think Romney was openly seriously considering her. He is not, she knows he is not, and anyone who even remotely follows either of the former governors knows he is not, so why make an issue of it? Perhaps, these people are fearful that he could put those differences aside, consider her and that she would accept? If she were such a bad VP candidate in 2008, the record would speak for itself. Critics would not have to spend eight months building a case.
  • “If Romney even puts a woman on his ticket, she could be too ‘Palin-like’ and a ‘big no-no.’ We saw today how Florida’s Pam Bondi is being positioned now as a “blonde Sarah Palin.”
  • “Romney should not even put a man on his ticket who brings about ‘too much excitement’ or who could be considered ‘Palin-like.’ Thus, we endured weeks of why Marco Rubio would supposedly be a lousy choice.

The Republican establishment is sending a clear message: “Gov. Palin and those who share her same qualities are not welcome and will not going to go places in this party.” You see, Sarah Palin took on the establishments of both the Democrats and her own Republican Party – not just as Alaska’s Governor, but as the Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC), as Wasilla’s Mayor and as a City Councilwoman. As Chair of the AOGCC, she brought down Randy Reudrich on numerous ethics violations. Reudrich was the Chair of the state Republican Party and a member of the RNC.

Gov. Palin does not just say “sudden and relentless reform” in speeches. She’s executed it for the past 20 years. The GOP knows it. This is why they fear and loathe her. This is why they have slimed her for eight months with a bald-faced lie about her “VP candidacy being a mistake” and continue to do it. This is why they have the gall to compare her VP candidacy to that of a mentally ill Senator receiving shock therapy. Gov. Palin may not be running for any elective office, but with her down-tickets, she is purging the existing establishment and building a new one.

The members of the existing establishment are not stupid and see the handwriting on the wall. They want nothing more than for her to disappear and go away. Gov. Palin will go to war for people who stand up and do the right thing. For those who do wrong, she is a force to be feared and respected. Those who “mis-underestimate” her do so at their own peril and those who learn it always find out way too late. She is a very powerful threat to the Republican establishment, perhaps even more so as a private citizen than if she had run. Gov. Palin is not nicknamed “Barracuda” for nothing.

Sarah Palin Radio Interviews Former Patriots Player Running for US Senate in TX

Sarah Palin Radio

LaDonna Hale Curzon, Executive Producer, Sarah Palin Radio this week interviewed former New England Patriots running back and ESPN commentator Craig James who is now running for a US Senate seat in Texas. James had played in the Super Bowl and had been a businessman for over 30 years.

When asked about why he is running, James answered, “You know, I was asked the other day, ‘do you think you’re too conservative?’ What’s too conservative about honoring the Constitution? The Ten Commandments? About believing in people and freedom and free markets? I said, you know that is what has given me a chance in this line. I’m living the American Dream.”

Hunger to Preserve the American Dream

He continued, “I grew up as an apartment boy. I saw the eviction notices up on doors as early as third grade and ate my fair share of mayonnaise-only sandwiches, but America gave me a chance to live the American Dream. I want to preserve the American spirit. That is my real hunger to preserve this country and the things that made it great.”

Energy Independence and Environmental Stewardship

About what he thought is the most critical state issue, James said, “in Texas, we are in the sights of the Obama administration….The EPA is coming in and trying to strangle us with regulations and environmental concerns they’re saying they have for us. Here in Texas, we have been blessed with oil and natural gas resources that we need to go and drill for. If we will get the government out of the way, we will take care of the environment.”

On the Keystone XL Pipeline, James said, “there is no plausible reason for anyone to be against” it. “We have refineries in southeast Texas that need to have that oil brought to them, not just for Texans but for the whole country, so that we can become more secure.”

Secure Both Borders and Shorelines

If elected Senator, James would “push the federal government back into a box and allow the states to control themselves – the Tenth Amendment. One of the real roles of the federal government is to defend our country. We are not defending the United States mainland not just the 1900 miles on the South and Southwest but both shorelines and the Canadian border. We are at war not just abroad, but at home.” James said he would use the United States military to secure the border, then “have an immigration conversation.” He is against amnesty, but said the legal immigration process needs to be simplified.

Tenth Amendment

He said the most critical issue on a national level is the growth and over-reach of the federal government, which is “bankrupting the American spirit. We have to educate the 50% who are moving toward socialism why it is so important to support limited government, low taxes, and free markets. Those things work. Socialism does not work.”

He said the first thing he would if elected is “walk in and try to get Harry Reid to put a budget to the floor….but my big march would be to get everyone on board to understand and adhere to the Constitution.”

A Citizen Running…

James said he is not a politician and has never run for office until now.

“I’m a citizen – a citizen – a citizen running for U.S. Senate. we need major infusion of real people from real street, to go save our country….I’ve been blessed in my life and I’m saying this humbly. I’ve played in the Super Bowl, announced Super Bowls, been in the biggest boardrooms and done deals with billionaires…I’m not going to be awestruck by the presence of Washington, D.C….I’m going up there to do the work of we the people.”

About his primary opponents, he said “they are all good people.” But, Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst is “a typical politician” and “we would get the same old same old.” Tom Leffert, the former Mayor of Dallas “went for big government” against the private sector. Ted Cruz, the former Attorney General is the guy who didn’t understand the concept of free markets….we don’t need another lawyer in the Senate chamber.”

James is picking up significant endorsements from Tea Party groups, Republican women’s clubs, and grassroots groups. He said it is building into a movement and that it is humbling and exciting.

Though he was a Santorum supporter, now that Romney is likely to be the GOP nominee, James is supporting Romney. He said that Obama has no clue about free markets, and Romney having been a businessman understands how they work.

The NFL and Conservatism

Even when he playing for the Patriots, he also ran a real estate business. In his football career, James played with people of all races. He was made captain of football teams in high school and college, because he said his team knew he cared about them and their success. Those leadership skills he developed helped him become successful in business, James said.

Curzon noted that almost all of the NFL players who have run for office are Republicans. James said, athletes are a diverse family but tend to be conservative. Though celebrities, football players don’t usually travel with an entourage and conduct their daily lives like ordinary people.

A Sign of Things to Come?

I took this photo of a prescient Manhattan Mini Storage billboard at 44th Street and Route 9A (West St.) on November 5, 2011. Though the billboard is no longer on this building, the same billboard can be seen further down Route 9A in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. Yes, the owners of Manhattan Mini Storage are liberals and routinely lampoon Republicans and our values in their ads. Why would I use this billboard as a Palinista? Sometimes, we need to listen to the warnings our enemies give us. Nancy Pelosi after all said the exact same things we have been saying. According to Conservative Byte, in an article published January 18, 2012, Pelosi said the following:

“If the far right thought that Romney could win, they might be more enthusiastic about him,” Pelosi told POLITICO’s Mike Allen during Tuesday’s Playbook Breakfast. “But they question what he stands for and they don’t think he’s going to win. So what’s the sell? I’m not sure he knows what he stands for, and that makes it harder too.”

“I don’t know who knows him,” she added of Romney. “Does he know him?”

About the field of candidates, Pelosi said “not exactly what you would call the first string of the Republican Party.” Have not all the candidates’ campaigns save for Romney’s and Paul’s come to an ignoble end? Though Pelosi is a detestable enemy, most conservatives would agree with her comments about Romney and the GOP field of candidates as a whole. Though the owners of Manhattan Mini Storage posted the billboard as part of a snarky, edgy ad campaign, it is a very large and loud canary in the mine warning us of an impending disaster if we proceed on our current course.

Much ink has been spilled on why Romney can’t win and the point does not require much belaboring. It all boils down to pale pastels versus bold colors.

So, how did New York Republicans feel about their choices presented by this field of candidates?

According to the New York State Data Center, the state’s total population as of July 2011 is: 19,465,167.

According to the Press Republican, 5.6 million New Yorkers are registered Democrat and 2.8 million are registered Republicans. From these numbers, we can surmise that the remainder are in no particular order: enrolled in a small third party; not enrolled in any party, too young to vote, or are foreign nationals.

Voter Turnout in April 24, 2012 NY Primary: 5.82%

According to the Wall Street Journal Delegate Tracker, which uses the Associated Press’ calculations in determining which candidates have how many delegates, 162,990 Republicans voted in New York’s closed primary.

Voter turn-out was 5.82% of New York’s 2.8 million Republicans.

Of the 162,990 who bothered to vote, 103,142 voted for Romney.

Romney Gets 95 Delegates with less than 4% of NY’s GOP Base

The number of people who voted for Romney is only 3.68% of the entire state’s base of 2.8 million registered Republicans. On the strength of 3.68% of New York’s Republicans, Romney walked out of New York with the entire motherlode of 95 delegates (92 for now, because of some vote counting issues, but it will ultimately be 95).

Romney with his 103,142 votes carried 63.28% of the 162,990 who voted. This is a landslide majority of the votes, which triggered a Winner-Take-All. New York State is proportional unless there is a majority. While less than 6% of New York’s Republicans voted, Romney carried a landslide of their votes.

Disgust

Where was 94.18% of New York’s Republicans on the 24th? Not at the polls. When 94.18% of the party’s base does not vote, that is not “lack of enthusiasm.” It is not “enthusiasm that will build” at some later time. Romney is not going to start giving people that “warm and fuzzy feeling” overnight. What this voter turnout reflects is absolute, complete, and utter disgust.

GOP Establishment Offers Pale Pastels, Rank Incompetence…

Our GOP race consisted of one strong candidate who only offers pale pastels with failed candidates as his alternatives. The others tried to offer bold colors to varying degrees, but what voters got instead was appallingly rank incompetence and disturbingly unprofessional campaigning. We had candidates who could not enunciate simple positions on issues; could not get their names on ballots; could not do basic opposition research; could not file delegate paperwork in key states; and who flubbed debates with amateur-hour performances followed by the proffering of pathetic excuses and childish demands. Shall I mention one candidate who failed out before the first primary due to a combination of major gaffes, two settled sexual harassment suits, and the still unresolved accusation of a 13-year affair? Yes, the outcome of these primary campaigns was predictable and inevitable. Now, aside from Romney, the only one left standing is Ron Paul with less than a whopping 10% of Romney’s delegates and not a single state to his name.

We need a Candidate We can Vote FOR

The Etch-a-Sketch candidate has absolutely no interest in either Gov. Palin or her support. Though he is “severely conservative,” he has not been to a single Tea Party rally and he has not reached out to conservatives within the GOP – that is the GOP’s base. The Grandfather and ultimate architect of ObamaCare wants to run against the father of ObamaCare. As governor of Massachusetts, he was pro-abortion, and anti-Second Amendment. But, don’t worry. He’s running “as a conservative.” That is until he hits the reset button and shakes the Etch-A-Sketch. He is a blue blood and a plutocrat to the core – hopelessly out of touch with ordinary Americans – running against an incumbent who thrives on class warfare and race-baiting.

When there is little point of difference between the incumbent and the challenger, the incumbent wins. While anybody might do a better job than Obama, that “anybody” must first win the general election. Winning the nomination is not enough. There’s the rub. A campaign strategy rooted in voting AGAINST an incumbent historically has rarely – if ever – been successful.

People need someone to vote FOR. We need a standard-bearer to rally behind. That is why over 94% of New York’s Republicans got disgusted and did not vote.

A Sign of Things to Come?

According to the National Journal (H/T Josh Painter), fully 60% of Romney supporters are only there because they are voting AGAINST Obama. If over 94% of the GOP voters don’t vote like in the New York Primary, Romney cannot possibly win the presidency.

If voters don’t vote, all the down-tickets – some of whom are good, solid Reagan-Palin Conservatives – like Richard Mourdock and Anna Little – will lose along with Romney, because the very votes they need will not have been cast. A Romney nomination will require a monumental Get Out The Vote (GOTV) effort to ensure that our good Reagan-Palin conservatives do not suffer the consequences of his nomination. Part of that effort necessarily will involve reminding voters that it is Congress, not POTUS who makes the laws, and in this election cycle the down-tickets are even more important than the Presidential race.

Perhaps, a Romney nomination and voter disgust are what the Bush/Rove GOP establishment wants, because they only care about their own power. They do not care about either the party’s purported platform or the will of their own base. But, they demand our money and support.

Unless something radically changes in Tampa, the prediction made by Manhattan Mini Storage will be fulfilled.

We need someone we can believe in.

Because, “Mitt Romney? That guy couldn’t even beat Obama.”
