Mia Love, Candidate for UT-4 Discusses Campaign on Sarah Palin Radio

American Grizzlies United General Election Congressional candidate for UT-4, Mia Love “reminds me so much of [former Alaska Governor] Sarah Palin,” LaDonna Hale Curzon, Host and Executive Producer, Sarah Palin Radio said. “She’s fresh, she’s bold and she tells it like it is – and she’s not easily intimidated, either.” Love is the mother of three children, ages 12, 10, and 5, and Curzon said watching her speak at the Republican Convention last month was one of the highlights of her trip there. “Like Sarah Palin, she started in politics as a member of the city council, and then she was elected mayor of her home town. Now, she is running for Congress for an open seat in Utah. Also, like Sarah Palin, she’s a dedicated runner, a true conservative, and a strong believer in her faith.”

Love on Attacks: “Bring it!”

Love said her convention speech was a lot of fun and she was focused on getting out the message of returning to the America we know and love. Following the convention, haters tampered with her WikiPedia page dropping in racist and sexist language, and Love received threatening materials in the mail. Love said this is happening “because I pose a little bit of a problem for Obama and his liberal agenda, and I know it’s going to be a little difficult for them. We’re going to get out there. The truth resonates.” She said conservative principles and free markets lift more people out of poverty than any other economic system in the history of the world. Love handed the hate mail to the police department which is investigating who is behind the threatening letters. She is running a money bomb to continue getting her message out.

Love said she does not care what Mother Jones thinks of her. The magazine’s writers called her an “anchor baby.” Love’s parents immigrated here legally and became citizens. Love said her parents instilled in her the value that she is not entitled to anything she does not own or did not work for. She knew the attacks were coming, and “I say, ‘bring it!”

Leftists Attack Those They Fear Most

Curzon said, “you can tell who the left is afraid of, because that’s who they go after and that’s who they attack, and unfortunately you are getting the Sarah Palin treatment. If you’re a woman, attractive, smart, and conservative, you’re going to get it. You’re just going to get it from the liberal left. It’s just like attractive, conservative women are the left’s worst nightmare, and so they’re going to throw everything they have in the kitchen sink at you.”

Love from -15% Polling to +15% with Hard Work, Truth

Love, said $2 million in attack ads have come in from out of state. Curzon said that when Love first started her campaign, she was behind her opponent by 15 points. Now the numbers have flipped and it is her opponent who is behind by 15%. Love attributed the turn-around to “a lot of hard work” and the resonating truth. “I’m willing to stand up and be courageous enough to tell people the truth about the situation our country is in,” she said. She cited our $16 trillion deficit, out-of-control debt, and an opponent who marches lockstep with Obama in supporting an overreaching federal government.

Love on why her Opponent from UT-2 is Running in UT-4

Love had met Condoleeza Rice at the convention and expressed her desire to meet with Gov. Palin. The National Republican Congressional Committee recognizes Love as a Young Gun. Curzon asked why her opponent is running in the new fourth district when he lives in and represents the second district. “Well, I think you’ll have to ask him that, but I can speculate,” Love said. “My best guess is that he didn’t think I was going to come out of the primaries. I was up against two sitting legislators who had been out working the delegates and there was one of them in particular who was pretty much a shoo-in, and so we worked hard. We got 70%. I think he knows he’s made a mistake.”

NRCC and Endorsements

If elected, Love would be the first black Republican woman to serve in Congress. Curzon said Love’s election would be historic and “your parents must be very proud of you.” Love said they are, and her dad told her on her “first day of college, that he did not want her to be a burden on society. I have to give back and I have to keep that promise.” She also said that she wants to keep her promise to her children that they will have the same opportunities we have had. She said on our current path, our children and grandchildren will not have those opportunities. Curzon noted that every candidate she has interviewed has said the same thing and expressed the same fear.

Love had Paul Ryan’s endorsement since before he became Mitt Romney’s running mate. Both Mitt and Ann Romney have endorsed her campaign, along with Speaker of the House John Boehner, Sen. John McCain, Kevin McCarthy, and the entire Utah delegation. Love said, “I am humbled and honored by the overwhelming support.” Multiple Tea Party groups have endorsed Love as well. She said her campaign is “focused on fiscal discipline, limited government and personal responsibility.”

Hope and Change Lie with us, not Federal Government

Love said deficit spending is the most critical issue in her district. She said limited government does not mean eliminating everything. It means doing things at the appropriate level of government. As mayor, Love’s questioning on spending is, “is it affordable? Is it sustainable? Is it our job?” She said Washington should be asking those same questions. She said so many people “believe Washington is the beginning and end of everything.” Love said that the executive experience concomitant with working as Mayor has prepared her for the U.S. House of Representatives. As a mayor, you are working for the community and the decisions you make have a direct impact on your constituents. Love said that going to Washington, she understands that the government belongs to us; we don’t belong to it.

“Hope and change lies with us. It doesn’t lie with the federal government,” Love said.

Absurd to Focus on who is the Right Face of Which Religion

Love is a Mormon and said Harry Reid’s sullying of Romney’s Mormon faith “just shows what kind of leadership we have in the Senate. We have so many issues we need to fix and – remember I talked about this during the convention – this President divides us based on income level, gender and social status. I should have added religion to that. That’s exactly what’s happening. ‘We can’t talk about the issues, so let’s just attack that person’ based on those items I just told you.”

Love said we should be worried about over-regulation, and over-spending, jobs and businesses making payrolls, “not who is the right face of which religion.” She said that citizens today are paying attention to the issues and predicts the will say to the leftists at the ballot box, “I am not buying what you’re selling.”

Truth Bomb – Now at 82% of Goal

Love’s website is: http://www.love4utah.com/, and her Truth Bomb had reached 50% of its $50,000 goal at the time of the interview. Now with over $41,000 raised, the Truth Bomb is 82% of the way there. The money will go toward advertising to answer the left’s smears against her campaign.

Former Bush Aide Brad Blakeman Tells SP Radio what Romney Must do to Win

Former top aide to President George W. Bush, Brad Blakeman said Mitt Romney must stay on the offensive to defeat Obama. Blakeman is a professor of Public Policy, Politics and International Affairs at Georgetown University, and is a regular guest on FOX News and the other networks. Jason Recher of SarahPAC credited Blakeman to giving him his start in politics. “I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for Brad Blakeman!,” Recher once told Curzon. On air, Curzon said that Blakeman is Recher’s friend. She met Blakeman on her flight to Tampa for the RNC Convention where she was located in Radio Row as part of the convention’s Talk Radio News Service. Blakeman said he loved the convention and was excited by the new leadership in the Republican Party.

Obama’s Fundamental Collapse in Foreign Policy

Curzon asked Blakeman “what is going on with Obama and his administration?” in reference to the murder of four Americans, including our Abamassador, and violent Islamic protests that began on September 11. “Well, we’ve seen that the policy of appeasement and apology doesn’t work and it never has in history, and we have a President who disrespected our friend, Israel and put his chips down on radical Islam and thought he could tame them,” he said. “They’re un-tameable, because they believe America should be destroyed,” Blakeman continued. He regarded Obama’s handling of the violence as a “fundamental collapse in foreign policy.”

Obama’s Lies, Cover-Ups and Corruption

When Curzon recorded the interview, the administration claimed that a 14-minute anti-Islamic video on YouTube sparked the attacks and protests. She asked if the administration had changed position, which it subsequently did. Gov. Palin on September 20 delineated the administration’s lies and missteps during a Hannity interview. As we now know, the violence was pre-planned with warnings delivered three days ahead. Blakeman said the Obama administration is using the movie to cover up its poor planning and preparation for the attacks it knew were coming.

Curzon questioned why the Ambassador had so little security. Blakeman said this is an easy “connect the dots” which leads straight to Obama who skips at more than half of his intelligence briefings (and other types of briefings as well). President Bush in contrast never missed a single intelligence briefing, which were done six days a week at 7 AM. Obama “refuses to even be briefed!” Blakeman said. “The fact that he is that negligent – gross negligence – for a President of the United States not to want security briefings and basically say, ‘they’re not important enough in my day to protect Americans’ is an outrage.”

Curzon asked Blakeman if thinks there is a cover-up going on. “Sure! This is the modus operandi of this administration,” he said. He cited both the Arab meltdown and Fast and Furious as two examples of how Obama runs a clandestine administration as opposed to the open transparent administration he promised during his campaign. “Nothing this President does is transparent. It’s all calculated and there’s no blame,” Blakeman said. “This President refuses to man up and take responsibility for his actions or the actions that others take on his behalf.”

Obama’s Failure by Appeasement and Distorted Priorities

Curzon noted that one of Obama’s campaign promises was to improve relationships with the Arab world. Blakeman said, “the Arab world has imploded under his watch, but again our enemies exploit weakness. They see this President as being weak and exploit his weakness to the detriment of our country. When they see us not stand with Israel, that’s an invitation to them to make trouble.” He said our enemies trouble-making will continue “until we get a new leader who is Reaganesque – who speaks softly and carries a big stick as opposed to Obama who speaks softly and gets hit with big sticks.”

Curzon said, “Obama won’t meet with the Prime Minister of Israel, but he is going to meet with the president of Egypt who is also the president of the Muslim Brotherhood (the Brotherhood is the precursor to today’s al Quaeda and has a long history dating back to World War II when they fought alongside the Nazis).” She asked Blakeman what he thought that says about his foreign policy.”

“Jews around America better wake up,” Blakeman said. “The fact is, the knee-jerk reaction to voting Democratic better end, because you have a President of the United States who couldn’t care less about Israel and puts more faith and trust in people who seek to do us harm than our most reliable friend in the Middle East, if not the world – the state of Israel.” He continued, “the state of Israel is the keeper of Western religion: the Stations of the Cross, Bethlehem, Nazareth – all the places that are holy to Christians and to Jews are guarded by the state of Israel. There is nothing more that radical Islam would like than to wipe out Western religion as we know it, and that means it’s a two-fer. Not only do you wipe out the state of Israel, but you wipe out Western religion.”

On Afghanistan and Gen. Petraeus

Curzon asked how the reports of Afghan soldiers turning on our soldiers will affect us there and our exit strategy. Blakeman said the Afghans are playing both sides to the middle, are corrupt and cannot be trusted. He said “American soldiers are not going to stand up for people who don’t appreciate us being there.” He said he’d like to see General Petraeus become Secretary of State in a Romney administration. “We need a tough military leader who is less on diplomacy and more on action. I think Gen. Petraeus as Secretary of State would be just what the doctor ordered for these thugs who have taken advantage of us under the leadership – or lack of leadership – of Hillary Clinton.” Curzon asked Blakeman if thought Gen. Petraeus would take the job. He thinks so and said “now is the time.”

If you Love the Country…you Cannot Let Obama Get Reelected

Curzon asked Blakeman what he thinks would happen if Obama is reelected. He said with Obama as a lame duck and with direction he has already said he wants to take the country in, “it will be irreversible.” He said, “another four years of Obama would be a disaster, not only for our country domestically, but internationally. It’s just unthinkable. I tell everybody, ‘if you love this country, the most important date in your calendar is November 6, and we cannot let Obama get reelected.”

To Win, Romney Must Play Offense

On what Romney needs to do to secure a win, Blakeman said,

“He’s got to come out four square and on offense. Forget this defensive posture. He should be speaking at the Detroit Economic Club. He should be making serious policy statements in Iowa at the Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, and at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. He should be in New York for the UN General Assembly meeting with world leaders and not cede the General Assembly time where world leaders meet to President Obama who will be speaking before the UN. I believe Romney should be in New York giving a thoughtful speech on foreign policy in a venue that’s appropriate, and also he should be seen meeting with world leaders in New York. If he’s seen talking about the economy in New Hampshire and not being engaged in foreign policy in New York, I think it’s a huge missed opportunity.”

Curzon said she thinks Romney needs to be more forceful and speak from the heart. “He needs offense. You win a game scoring on offense…we have a great defensive team with Ryan and surrogates…Romney should play offense. The other thing he needs to do is – he needs to start connecting to the American people and not necessarily in 30- to 60-second ads. I would like to see him buy 15-minute infomercials in battleground states where he can actually talk to the people in those states and have tailored messages directly from him.” He continued, “but, you’re right. We need him to step it up on passion and be Reaganesque in principle and stay on offense.”

Base Election, Ground Game, GOTV

Blakeman said, “everything is going to mean our ground game and getting out the troops. It’s a base election…we have to get our base out and we have to influence six to seven percent of independents who have to realize that hope and change that Obama promised never came, and if anything, he’s made our country hopeless. We’ve got to bring that hope back to America.”

Gov. Palin: Vote For and Support Romney / Ryan

This go around, if you don’t know who you dislike more: Romney or Obama – this go around, give Romney a shot. OK? We don’t want to repeat the failed policies of President Obama. That’s insanity to just repeat the same failures over and over again and expect a different result….Obama had his chance…this go around, let’s give Romney that chance.

-Gov. Palin, August 25, 2012, Fox News: America’s News Headquarters

As I’ve repeatedly said, I support Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in their efforts to replace President Obama at the ballot box, and I intend to focus on grassroots efforts to rally Independents and the GOP base to elect Senate and House members so a wise Congress is ready to work with our new President to get our country back on the right path. This is imperative.

-Gov. Palin, August 12, 2012, Fox News: GretaWire Blog

“…I would vote for Romney in a heartbeat over Obama…”

Sen Grassley and RNC Co-Chair Discuss Gov Palin, 2012 elections on Sarah Palin Radio

LaDonna Hale Curzon, host and executive producer, Sarah Palin Radio was at the Republican National Convention’s Radio Row as part of Talk Radio News Service where she interviewed both Sen. Chuck Grassley and Saul Anuzis, Co-Chair of the RNC. Subjects included: Gov. Palin not speaking at the convention and being missed, the 2012 elections and campaigns, media competition and choice, and GOP trends.

On Gov. Palin and Her Not Speaking at the RNC Convention

Curzon in her closing minutes of the Anuzis interview asked if he knew whether former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin had been invited to speak at the Republican convention. Anuzis said he did not know but “a lot of people missed her. I wish she was there. Look, I understand the controversy,” he said adding that some people like her and others don’t, “just like any other politician.”

He continued,

“but the reality is she’s a leader in our party. She has got a huge following, is well liked and is one of our superstars – at least in my opinion, and I think that I would have liked to have seen her there. Whether or not she spoke or not, obviously she deserved to speak as much as anybody else in one regard, but I think that just having her as part of the process was [important].

She’s clearly a team player. I mean you listen to her on – whether it’s talk radio or talk TV – and what she does. She’s doing everything she can to help the ticket. She’s a good messenger, and so – personally I missed her.

I remember in the last convention, she was nominated. We were sitting there in Michigan and all of us put on our Redwings jerseys, because you know she’s a big hockey fan. Her son actually played here at Western Michigan and went to hockey school in Michigan. I talked to her and Todd about it one time. We met at a Governor’s Association.

I don’t know whether or not she was invited. I missed her and I know a lot of others did and I’m hoping that she’ll continue to be active and having the positive voice that she currently has to help elect more conservatives and more Republicans.”

RNC Chair Reince Priebus said on the Mark Levin Show that Gov. Palin was offered a prime-time speaking spot at the convention. Gov. Palin said “this year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I’m excited to hear them,” in a written statement posted on GretaWire. The same day, Gov. Palin also said, “her mission is to help — not hurt. That’s why she has ‘stepped back’ to concentrate on down-ticket races.” Gov. Palin in fact stumped for three candidates in Arizona during the convention: Paul Gosar, Jeff Flake, and Kirk Adams. Gosar and Flake won their primaries.

2012 Convention Excitement

Anuzis said he had not seen as much excitement in a Republican Convention between 1980 and this one. He said the media needed a convention center of their own, for some 16,000 journalists from all over the world were on-site covering the proceedings. He said people from all over the world are interested in our processes and technologies and often take them back to their home countries to replicate.

Romney’s Likeability: Those Who Really Know Him Like Him

Curzon asked Anuzis about mainstream media reports pertaining to Romney’s likeability. Anuzis said that people who really know Romney like him and his story is very powerful. He said jealousy over success is anti-American.

Curzon asked Anuzis about the odds of Pete Hoekstra winning his Michigan Senate race. She had interviewed Hoekstra in mid-August. Anuzis said Hoekstra has a good chance of winning because many people are tired of Sen Stabinow’s rubber-stamping for Obama. He said if Romney wins Michigan, Hoekstra’s odds will improve all the more.

In response to Curzon’s question about whether he would take a job in a Romney administration if offered, Anuzis said he would be honored, but the Romney campaign is now only 60 days out of the election and the focus needs to be defeating Obama.

Obama Vulnerable

Curzon asked Anuzis about a Public Policy Polling sample which shows Obama ahead. He said those polls are snapshots in time and the Romney campaign is competitive – ahead in some places, behind in others. Anuzis said Obama is not over 50% anywhere. He said 50% is the key number when considering how well an incumbent is doing. An incumbent polling under 50% consistently – like Obama – is vulnerable.

Anuzis said he had seen and heard highlights of the Democratic National Convention and how they pushed big government. “What better could highlight the difference between Republicans and Democrats than their own words?”

Gov. Palin a Voice of Common Sense

Sen. Grassley told Curzon to “say hi to Sarah,” and that he loves seeing her on Fox News. “She’s a voice of common sense,” he said.

Sen. Grassley Posits Three Senate Scenarios for November

The 2012 Republican National Convention marked Sen. Grassley’s ninth he has attended. Curzon asked if Sen. Grassley would continue as Chair of the Judiciary Committee if Republicans take the Senate in November. He said that “it won’t be decided until November.” When asked if he thought Republicans would take the Senate, he posited three scenarios: Democrats: 51-49; a 50/50 split; or Republicans 51-49. He said “unless Romney has a sweep,” the Senate is “going to be close.” He said today, Romney would have a close fight in Iowa, but Republican registration is up by 21,000 in that state since 2008. He said even people who voted for Obama are disappointed in his presidency.

Sen. Grassley: GOP Trending More Conservative

Sen. Grassley said the Republican Party is now trending more conservative. He said when Pat Robertson’s people came in “everyone got all worked up” and the same thing happened with the Paul people. In each case, the result was new blood in the party. He said Obama brought a lot of people into the Democratic Party as well. “Whether it’s on the right or on the left, the more people we have participating in our political process, the stronger our democracy is,” Sen. Grassley said. He said the biggest change in politics generally is more partisanship, but reiterated that this means more participation and “strengthening of our democracy.”

Liberal Media Losing Influence in Face of Competition

“If you go back 20 years, three networks controlled 80% of TV. Now, they control maybe 20% – 25%. You’ve got Fox News. You’ve got [networks] on the right and on the left, and in the middle, and you’ve got the Internet, the social networks – every opportunity to get a political view out and people get it out,” he said. He said the liberal press remains too liberal but does not have the influence it once had in the face of new competition.

USDA Should Educate, not Dictate

Curzon asked Sen. Grassley what he thought of PETA’s disgusting stunt in which they took bets on how soon he would die after objecting to the US Department of Agriculture’s vegetarian push. Sen. Grassley said that the USDA should educate Americans on proper diet, but not dictate.

Sen Grassley on Gov. Palin Electrifying Conventions

When asked about rumors that Gov. Palin would have been the mystery speaker, Sen. Grassley said, “that would be nice. And I remember four years ago, the electricity that comes because of her announcement, but more important after her speech.” Curzon said “I had heard people talk about it and they have never seen anything like it.” Sen. Grassley responded, “Let’s hope she’s not the only one who can do that, but she has a unique ability to do it, and speak to really – just kind of – common sense. I don’t think she’d be insulted if I said she’s a common-sense speaker.”

The mystery speaker turned out to be Clint Eastwood, whose “empty chair” schtick highlighted the absence of Obama’s leadership. Gov. Palin Tweeted about “Empty Chair Day” on September 3.

Hoekstra on Sarah Palin Radio: Palin awesome in ’08, Welcome in MI Anytime

Former U.S. Representative Peter Hoekstra told LaDonna Hale Curzon, host and Executive Producer, Sarah Palin Radio he is running for a U.S. Senate seat in Michigan because what Obama and his opponent, Sen. Debbie Stabenow are doing “is terrible for our kids and grand kids.” His motivation is “to get this country moving in a different direction. Stabenow is a 12-year Democratic incumbent. Rep. Hoekstra said the differences between Stabenow and himself are a “classic liberal/conservative race.”

Stabenow “is a Senator who does not deliver solutions. I find it amazing that they’re going after Paul Ryan and his legislative accomplishments. Here’s a guy who’s Chairman of the Budget Committee and passes a budget every year. I’m running against a Senator who sits on the Budget Committee in the US Senate and hasn’t passed a budget in over 1,200 days,” he said.

He said Sen. Stabenow voted for the Obama stimulus plan and her beliefs align with his infamous “you didn’t build this” rant. She voted for ObamaCare and is one of the most liberal Senators, if not the most, Rep. Hoekstra said.

Closing Gap in Polling…Opponent Needs Her Money “to Defend Atrocious Record”

Though Sen. Stabinow has much more money in her campaign than Rep. Hoekstra, he said “she is going to need it to defend her atrocious record.” The latest Rasmussen Poll on their campaigns shows Sen. Stabinow at 46% with Rep. Hoekstra at 40%. He expects the gap to close by Labor Day and said pundits consider an incumbent vulnerable once their numbers drop below 50%.

Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan has endorsed Rep. Hoekstra. He expects to pick up endorsements from pro-business, pro-life, and pro-gun groups in the coming weeks. His campaign got between 40% and 45% of the Tea Party vote during the primary, but now they are united behind his general election run. Rep. Hoekstra said he would welcome Gov. Palin’s support but has not been endorsed by her as this story goes to press. He is not on the American Grizzlies United 2012 Candidates List.

Rep. Hoekstra said he was thrilled that Romney picked Paul Ryan to be his running mate. “Paul Ryan is a very good friend. He’s shown incredible leadership,” Rep. Hoekstra said. Rep. Ryan also sits on the Ways and Means Committee which develops all of our tax policies. “He’s not only leading on balancing the budget and paying down the debt, but he’s also leading on tax policy, creating a tax structure that would drive the economy and…growth,” Rep. Hoekstra said. He added that Rep. Ryan is a “gym rat,” who slept in the office and met colleagues in the gym. He believes that Rep. Ryan’s solutions focus will appeal to Independents as well as conservatives, and even Democrats who seek solutions. Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a Reagan Democrat stronghold where the Romney-Ryan ticket could do well.

Gov. Palin Awesome in ’08

Curzon noted that despite Gov. Palin’s best efforts in 2008 – she had “gone rogue” to campaign there – Obama still carried the state. “Gov. Palin was awesome in ’08 when the top of the ticket said ‘hey we’re leaving Michigan,’ and she said, ‘No! No! No! Send me to Michigan. I can win Michigan. She’s welcome to come to Michigan anytime she wants to come. People in Michigan remember that,” Rep. Hoekstra said.

He also said “Romney is our favorite son. He is from southeast Michigan. He understands the car industry. He understands manufacturing…I think he’s got a great shot at winning Michigan. After he wins those electoral votes, he’s going to take a friend with him into the U.S. Senate, so Michigan is a very key state in this election.

Rep. Hoekstra is an avid cyclist and has biked across the state in the past, though he has not done so this year. A bicycle is featured in one of his campaign logos.

Amy Kremer, Tea Party Express on SP Radio: “We Want Gov. Palin to Speak at RNC”

Unbelievable…

“So far the RNC has nine sitting and four former governors speaking and [former Alaska Governor] Sarah Palin isn’t one of them,” LaDonna Hale Curzon, Host and Executive Producer, Sarah Palin Radio said as she opened her interview with Amy Kremer. “It’s completely unbelievable to me that the biggest star of the Republican Party, the Vice Presidential candidate from four years ago is not going to be included at this convention,” she said.

Kremer said the RNC is still releasing names of speakers. “There is no one who excites the base like Gov. Palin and people want to hear from her.” Curzon asked if maybe Gov. Palin will be invited, “but the RNC is keeping it big secret?” Kremer answered, “maybe. You never know what’s going on behind the scenes obviously, so I don’t know if she has been asked and they haven’t released it or she hasn’t been asked….there are millions of people out there who support her and want to hear from her.”

RNC and Romney Need Us More than We Need Them…

“No one has done more for this country than this grassroots movement – the Tea Party – and the loud voice of Gov. Palin,” Kremer said. “The party and Mitt Romney need us more than we need them. I believe they need to embrace the Tea Party movement, embrace Gov. Palin, and let’s all work together to make Obama a one-term President.”

Kremer said that Ted Cruz’ victory in spite of being out-spent 4:1 by David Dewhurst was from his passionate supporters working to get him elected. She said that Mitt Romney is going to need grass roots – “people with fire in the belly” – boots on the ground to get elected. She said that while “squishy moderate Republicans might donate their dollars, they’re not the ones going out there knocking on doors, making phone calls, and whatnot. It’s the grassroots that do that, and I don’t know how it can be won without the grassroots.”

Curzon agreed and said that people who don’t feel that passion might vote, but they’re are not going to do Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Work. “Money does not buy elections,” Kremer said. “The bottom line is you have to have the grassroots out there doing the hard work to win the election.”

Kremer said, “without Gov. Palin and the Tea Party, there’s no chance in Hell of taking back the White House and the Senate.” She added that if there were no Tea Party, the country would have already gone over the fiscal cliff.”

Curzon asked why it appears that Romney does not care about the Tea Party conservatives or Gov. Palin. “I don’t know that they don’t care. I hope they understand the power of the movement and why we’re important. Look, 2010 didn’t happen because of the Republican Party. 2010 happened because of the Tea Party. Anybody who thinks it happened because of the Republican Party is just simply delusional,” Kremer said. “Again, they need us more than we need them…I honestly don’t know how they can do it without us.”

No More Falling in Line

“We are that variable they can’t control. They can’t control the Tea Party movement. Yes, we may be supporting Republicans, but what we’ve all learned is that there is a difference between being a conservative and a Republican. We are conservatives. The reason we’re here is because the Republican Party got away from its core principles and values. The movement got started because people were fed up with both political parties, especially the Republican Party,” Kremer said.

“We are a threat to the power that they hold….and they don’t like that, and I’m sure they don’t know what to do right now. I’m sure they know they need us….I hope they embrace the movement. I hope they understand that it’s not wise to alienate Gov. Palin.”

Kremer cited the Wisconsin recall defeat as an example of a grassroots success. The Republican Party did little or nothing to defeat the recall, she said. It was grassroots activists who ensured Gov. Walker and Lt. Gov. Kleefisch stayed in office.

Curzon said that the Republican Party “wants more robotic than rogue.” Kremer said the GOP mentality is of “falling in line,” but people are no longer taking their marching order from the party. “They’re sick of it.” She said that instead of giving their money to the Republican Party, people are donating directly to individual candidates and organizations.”

We Must Get Obama Out of Office…

Kremer emphasized that “the biggest thing is, we need to take back the Senate and get President Obama out of office, and it’s going to take all of us to do that.” She said Tea Party Express does have a good relationship with the Romney campaign and the organization will be at the convention with details to be released in another week or so. The Tea Party Express Phone Banking Bus will most likely be there. It was used during the Cruz / Dewhurst runoff.

“Anybody who says ‘Mitt Romney’ is not my candidate, because the candidate I wanted is not the nominee’ – that’s simply a vote for Obama,” Kremer said. “We cannot go down that road. This could be the last free election of our lifetimes, if he is reelected. He’s already spoken about wanting to take over more industries like he did with the auto industry. We cannot continue down this path. It truly is about fundamentally changing this country.”

Curzon asked Kremer who should thought Romney was going to pick as his running mate. “I don’t know, but I hope it’s Marco Rubio,” she said.

Curzon and Kremer spoke about the Wisconsin US Senate race and an advertisement by a leftist group. The conversation moved to the federal budget, and Kremer said “The last time the Democrat-led Senate passed a budget, the iPad didn’t even exist.”
