@SarahNETRadio, Women Patriots: Gov Palin Knows Her Mind, Not Afraid to Speak it

This week Sarah Palin was the topic when SarahNET Radio’s Kevin Scholla stopped by Women Patriots on Conservative Radio Network! Hosts Barbara and Brenda talk to Kevin about Governor Palin’s influence on the culture war, her patriotism, her incredible record of accomplishment, and much more.

Woman Who Knows Her Mind and Not Afraid to Speak it

Barbara and Brenda, the hosts of Women Patriots out of North Carolina and Indiana said about former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, “I love a woman who knows her mind and isn’t afraid to speak it,” in a 71-minute interview with Kevin Scholla, host of SarahNET Radio earlier this week. Scholla said he admires Gov. Palin because she is unfiltered and honest. He became a supporter months before she ran for Vice President. Gov. Palin and Scholla exchanged emails when she was pregnant with Trig. Scholla’s daughter was due two months after Trig. He discussed the Presidential race in those emails and told Gov. Palin he hoped McCain would pick her as his running mate. When that day came, Scholla went on to campaign for her, and like so many of us, wanted her to run for President in 2012 the night Obama won.

Genesis of SarahNET Radio

Scholla’s professional radio, TV, and writing backgrounds and his partnership with SarahNET.net were the genesis of SarahNET Radio, which was conceived “to give the real news on her,” and counter the steady stream of leftist media drivel. When Gov. Palin announced that she would not run for President on October 5, 2011, many shows had already aired. Scholla’s decision was immediate. The show must go on. “Gov. Palin’s values, ideas, and message” were not going to cease because she did not run in 2012.

Many Men Would Have Caved…

Scholla and the hosts discussed how politics have devolved into a battle to save the Constitution from leftists who want to subvert and destroy it. Scholla said, “Gov. Palin the true epitome of America,” and her enemies are jealous of her successes in all areas of her life. “I do this for my daughter. There is no better role model than Sarah Palin…she takes the shots and does not back down.” He continued, “if you look at the history of what she’s been through and interview her now versus ’06 and ’07, nothing’s changed, except maybe the millions of people who want to stand and have a picture with her.” He added that “many men would have caved.”

Gov. Palin for Everything the Left is Against

Scholla said he’d rather have an honest person disagree with him on nine out of 10 issues than flip-flop, go along to get along, engage in double-talk, and run to political talking points. He said the left hates Gov. Palin because “she is for everything this modern-day Democratic Party is against.” She is “for America, for life, for liberty, for freedom, for the Constitution, for personal responsibility, traditional values, for the Second Amendment.” The left loves RINOs, because they can easily be painted into a box with phony memes and destroyed. Gov. Palin is a polar opposite and offers actual alternatives and solutions.

The left loves to talk about Gov. Palin’s “irrelevancy.” Scholla had written a non-political article about the influence of sports on the Heaths’ lives and on Sarah as a young Heath daughter. It was besieged with comments bashing and insulting Gov. Palin as “a moron.” If she is so irrelevant, why did all these commenters come out of the woodwork?

The Real War on Women

One of the hosts said “the media went after her because they were scared. She is a strong woman. A Republican woman. She is a mother. You want to talk about women’s rights, they don’t want to have that conversation about a woman being appreciated for who she is and not what her body looks like.”

“If you are not a white Protestant male and you are a conservative, they freak out,” Scholla said. Ted Cruz and Ben Carson are experiencing the same thing; Herman Cain, and Mia Love went through it too. The Democratic Party behaves as if it owns you, he said. “When you have a woman who looks like Sarah Palin and has the abilities of Sarah Palin, they freak out,” because she can attract young people, women – that is their core constituency.

He said they don’t merely disagree with you, but “they hate you and go after you in a really weird, visceral way.”

The War on Conservatives

Brenda, Barbara, and Scholla spoke about the left’s attempts to silence conservative media such as Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and others.

Scholla then spoke about Gov. Palin’s ability to pick solid conservatives. While the RINOs were out having dinner with Obama, Palin-backed conservatives were standing with Rand Paul in a filibuster. She’s endorsed people from all different walks of life: ranchers, dentists, veterinarians, “and that’s the way it’s supposed to be,” he said. Obama uses far-left lawyers who may be book smart but have no common sense.

One of the hosts said, “I love Sarah. She tells the truth.” She contrasted Gov. Palin with Hillary Clinton who she described as “a lying sack of crap.” Clinton lied about Benghazi and was ultimately responsible for the deaths of four Americans.

On Obama’s Lack of Emotion for Americans…

Scholla said Obama has no emotion for Americans killed and cited the Boston terrorist attacks and Benghazi as examples. Not mentioned in the interview, but another glaring example would be Chris Kyle, who went forgotten by Obama, but whose funeral Gov. Palin attended, sacrificing her own birthday to do so. Scholla said Obama reads from a teleprompter and always must say ‘not all Muslims are bad, when America’s guts are ripped out’. He said the Democrats win because they’re always on the same page.

Conservatives will hold their noses and vote for a moderate, but moderates won’t support conservatives post-primary. Scholla cited McCain and others going to dinner with Obama, McCain being soft on Obama during the 2008 campaign while Gov. Palin called out his lack of accomplishments, lack of experience and nefarious associations. One of the hosts said Gov. Palin had more experience than Obama.

Liberals Only Care About Control

Scholla said the Democrats and liberals only care about control, not the groups they vociferously claim to protect. “They don’t appreciate what we have” as a country, he said, citing Obama’s apology tour at the beginning of his first term.

RINOs and Media Cling to Power

He spoke about the confluence of the guns and immigration issues as Boston came under attack from foreign terrorists. Scholla lauded Gov. Palin’s uncompromising position on the Second Amendment. He said Gov. Palin’s endorsements in the 2010 and 2012 races and beyond into this year and 2014 will force change in the Republican party. Scholla and the hosts spoke about leftist media reporting of Gov. Palin, how McCain and the establishment RINOs desperately want to hold on to power, how Palin-endorsed candidates such as Ted Cruz and Rand Paul focus on the Constitution, while the RINOs insult them and provide only sour grapes.

Scholla recounted how the media has twice covered satires on Gov. Palin as real news stories and how the left is obsessed with “green,” recycling, and earth day, but have a hatred of Christmas, guns, and large sugary drinks. He described how New York City – which wanted to ban the large drinks – is pushing failed students ahead, while good teachers are shackled by school administrations and their own unions. The “union dues go to advertising for Democrat candidates.”

Scholla and the hosts spoke about the leftist hate-fest on Gov. Palin, and men who do not defend her. The hosts spoke about the old “I can see Russia from my house” flap. Russia and Alaska are next to each other and as governor, Sarah Palin was receiving classified briefings. “She cannot have been governor and been stupid,” they said.

Scholla said, “people call her dumb because they have no dirt. Obama is not dumb. He knows exactly what he is doing. He wants to turn us to a European socialist nation.”

Leftist Hypocrisy

Scholla and the hosts spoke about leftist hypocrisy starting with the gaffes of both Quayle and Gore, and how leftists trawl Tea Party rallies looking for one nut to discredit the whole movement. Meanwhile, cities had to clean up huge messes from pro-marijuana and Occupy rallies, the latter being punctuated by rape, vandalism, and violence. They spoke about how the left exploits children to promote gun control following the Sandy Hook horror, but has nothing to say about Kermit Gosnell’s infanticides – snipping the spines of babies born in his botched abortions.

There has been a virtual media blackout on the Gosnell trial. “Gosnell is possibly the biggest serial killer in history,” Scholla said. He is not a doctor and often had his “interns” do the “procedures.” Scholla noted that Obama is a big proponent of partial birth abortion having voted for it numerous times. In the left’s world, it’s okay to post death wishes against Sarah but not Gosnell. We should be harsh on child molesters and murderers, and Scholla cited Gov. Palin’s position on Jerry Sandusky.

Keeping the Grassroots Involved…

The hosts said we need to keep grassroots involved and engaged to avert another catastrophe. Scholla said, “I’ve noticed in our movement, we’re all for a cause or candidate – as long as we’re getting all the credit.” The Left is a machine and gets things done. He said if our elected representatives “see that calls are not coming from us, they assume we’re for what they’re trying to push. You have to speak up and it’s easy to do online, with phone calls,” and so forth.

No More Politicians. We Want Real People….

One of the hosts, Barbara said she makes calls all the time to a North Carolina Senator, and never gets responses. Many others complained about this as well.

Scholla said politicians go to Washington and engage in power grabs. “It’s a cesspool of ‘do what I say and I’ll do this for you.’ You’re supposed to be a public servant – there to serve the people. Palin-endorsed Cruz has been good on all angles. It can be done. There is a lot of pressure there. Many Palin supporters would like to see her do something down the road.” She could run for Senate either in Alaska or Arizona or run for President, “but even if she doesn’t run, she still has that unique way of affecting culture that others do not. How many people have the following, websites, books, that she has?”

Scholla harkened back to Sen. Cruz saying his campaign “phones lit up like Christmas trees” when Gov. Palin endorsed him. The same thing happened with Sen. Fischer. Even for the ones who lost like Steelman, Kirk Adams, “the endorsement got the conversation going.”

The hosts spoke about the Indiana Senate race with Lugar and Mourdock and the Missouri race with Steelman and Akin, and the media traps Akin and Mourdock fell in. They also described how Lugar would not endorse Mourdock. “When conservatives win primary sour grapes come out,” Scholla said. He spoke about the Presidential debates with far left moderators and how it’s best to “call them out, so at least if you lose, you lose swinging.”

The hosts said they “don’t want smooth talking politicians.” Scholla said, “I don’t want a politician. I want a person.” The hosts agreed. No teleprompters, no canned speeches. Real people. But, Scholla noted, “as soon as someone speaks from the heart, they’re painted as ‘not a good politician.’” He said, “Gov. Palin’s real record is of: bi-partisanship, she stood up to big oil, able to work together, and actually produce. You’d be hard pressed to have have this information and believe the false narrative.”

Gov. Palin Running?

The hosts asked Scholla if he thought Gov. Palin is going to run for President in 2016.

“We got so emotionally invested in a possible run in 2012. I was able to take it; she was playing the media, driving the left absolutely bananas. She’s not doing that right now. She’s just doing her thing, and endorsing great candidates, helping potential candidates, calling Obama out for every move he makes. I’m not copping out. I don’t know. One moment, I feel – like when she put that video out – that she will run, and others – when she speaks highly of Rand Paul – I don’t. I know whether she runs or not, she will effect positive change. She will make the right decision one way or or the other, not only for her, but I think for the country, because she comes about decisions the right way – through prayer, common-sense…she is 49 years old. She’ll be there,” he said.

The hosts said “we do need her in the field to get the good people we need to run, then she should run herself.”

SarahNET Radio: Lt. Gov Candidate Could be VA’s Sarah Palin

Stimpson is running for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia and she says Sarah Palin paved the way for commonsense conservative candidates like herself. There is no primary in this race; instead a convention will be held and the nomination made there. Stimpson maps out her plans for Virginia, putting a premium on limited government. Don’t miss this pro-life, pro-gun, mother and wife as she looks to grab the GOP nomination. Stimpson is married to a Marine and she’s endorsed by Jamie Radtke. Sarah Palin sends her prayers to the city of Boston after an unthinkable week there. Also, Governor Palin commends those who stopped the latest liberal gun control measure. Plus, a tribute to Rand Paul and big birthdays for Trig and Track. Steel Resolve, our weekly commentary with Sarah Steelman is featured as well.

Taking Local Limited Government Success to the State Level

Stimpson is currently the chair of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors and comes from a grassroots experience, a significant point of difference from her rivals in the crowded field of seven candidates for Lt. Governor. Stafford is the seventh largest county in Virgina. Stimpson said she has a record of “actually limiting government” by cutting taxes “for three years in a row” and reducing personnel to 2004 levels in the general administration. “Conservative governing works and Stafford County is thriving. I want to take that same success to the entire state, because I’m very good at building coalitions and actually accomplishing getting those conservative principles into good governance,” she said.

Jamie Radtke who ran for Senate and who starred in The Undefeated is backing Stimpson. “It was really very much an honor to have her support,” Stimpson said about Radtke’s backing. She continued, “Jamie is very principled. It’s not something she did overnight. We certainly met, we spoke, we talked often, and she’s become a good friend.” She said Radtke’s support would “translate into quite a few delegates come May 18.”

The Sarah Palin of Virginia?

Scholla asked Stimpson what commonalities she has with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. She replied, “Well, I look at Sarah Palin and she certainly never really seemed to be bothered too much by the criticism that came at her because in my view – I talked with her – she had a very clear vision of what it was she was fighting for,” Stimpson said. “I’m taking my knocks in this race right now. I got attacked coming from all different angles, but I also know what I’m fighting for as well, and I really believe we are in a battle right now for liberty and for freedom.”

She continued, “unfortunately, in the Commonwealth of Virgina, the Republicans control all three houses of government, yet we just passed the largest tax increase in Virgina’s history.” She said the increase concerns her not simply because of the burden, but the question of “what freedom will be next?” She said Virgina put “the expansion of ObamaCare on the table,” and called out what the federal government was – and will continue – trying to do with gun control. She cited the manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombers and how area residents were largely defenseless since they are not permitted to have a gun to protect themselves. She said the “Second Amendment appears to be next on the chopping block” and the Republicans are all too willing to cave in and go along with it.

In Reagan’s Footsteps: State, Name Problem, Force Defense

Stimpson said she is the only Lt. Governor candidate speaking out about the Republican leadership about passing the tax hike. She said the only thing the others have said is that they “voted ‘no’ for the bill.” She harkened back to Ronald Reagan. “He stated the problem, he named the problem, and he forced them to defend it – ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that wall!’ That’s what as Republicans, we need to do right now,” she said. Stimpson said she is “not going to waste the opportunity” she has right now and she knows what she is fighting for. “This is a tough battle we’re in. This is not a time to play ‘careful.’ It’s time to go on offense.”

Gov. Palin a Warm Human Being, Trail Blazer

Scholla said Stimpson’s approach sounds just like Gov. Palin’s. Stimpson met Gov. Palin at a rally in Fredericksburg in 2008, after giving one of the speeches there. “The thing that really struck me about her was her warmth,” she said. Stimpson brought her daughter – then age 12 – to the meeting and “she was just especially kind to my daughter. They’re just a great family and Sarah Palin has certainly taken her knocks, but I will tell you that she has paved the way for people like me. I watched what she did. I watched what she endured. I tried to maybe learn from some of the mistakes or maybe how the media will play games,” she said. Stimpson hopes that people will watch her and be more accepted when they step into their leadership roles.

Political Authority is by Consent of the People

“I truly believe that the authority I hold in making decisions is by the consent of the people, and it is by their vote that has put me there. Every dollar that I spend for the government – I better be sure that it is being wisely spent, because there are people who worked really hard to make that money. I believe limited government keeps the power where it should be, and that’s in the people’s hands. I believe our government exists to defend our rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. When you start stepping outside of that is when you start infringing on people’s liberty,” she said.

“The idea behind liberty and freedom is that it allows us to be the best that we can be: free to make choices, free to innovate, free to make decisions, and that’s why I believe in limited government,”Stimpson said.

Taxpayer’s Money is the People’s Money

In her current office, Stimpson is fighting a budget battle. The Board wants to spend taxpayer’s dollars on pet projects. She said if “we keep having surplus money, it means we taxed the people too much and that’s the people’s money.” She said bureaucracies naturally want to grow. Under Stimpson’s leadership, the Board cut a regressive business tax, cut real estate taxes three years in a row, cut the boat tax in half, zeroed out tax service districts and in-tax fees. “It’s just a consistent walking back of taxes in Stafford County.”

Second Amendment a Hedge Against Tyranny

Stimpson is the only candidate who supports Constitutional Carry and a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. She is the wife of a retired Marine. “I understand that the right to bear arms is not just so you can carry guns. It’s a hedge against tyranny. It is a protection of our first principles: the rights and freedom of assembly, of religion, and speech. That’s why it exists, so I’m going be just a very passionate defender of the right to bear arms,” she said.

Scholla said New York’s Governor Cuomo and others of his ilk who speak about hunting have no idea of what the Second Amendment is even about. “I do think that is also one of the things we as Republicans need to do: engage the culture where they are. It is up to us to articulate, to educate, and to talk about why liberty matters, why the Second Amendment matters; why the first principles – freedom of assembly, press, speech, and religion – why those matter. What does that mean for the average family? It means they can be the best that they can be,” Stimpson said.

“All Life Has Intrinsic Value”

Stimpson joins rank with Gov. Palin and former candidate Radtke in her uncompromising pro-life position. “I believe all life has intrinsic value, and that is consistent with the way that I govern. I believe people should be treated with dignity, even when you disagree with them. So, my same regard for people in how I govern is the same passion I have for the mothers and their unborn children.” Forty-one percent of our nation’s children are born to unmarried parents, Stimpson said. “Women are bearing a burden in our society. We need to be affirming women, and we also need to be affirming their unborn children.”

School Choice Encourages Competition, Better Schools

Stimpson said her children attend public schools and she is grateful for the good teachers they have. She said many otherwise “good teachers are held hostage by mandates” from school administrators, the state and the federal government. “If we have more choice – it’s called the free market – I think by having more competition, in the educational sector, our public schools will be stronger.” Further, she said, “every child is different and every child has a different educational need. Home-schooling might be better for one child, and a private school might work best for another, and a public school may work very well for others.”

Support Small Business with Broad Tax Cuts

The way to support small business is with “broad tax cuts,” Stimpson said. “You don’t favor one business over nother.” In her current office, Stimpson said, “we eliminated our aggressive business tax….we developed a 10-point economic plan. Investors want certainty, so the Republicans on the Stafford Board of Supervisors adopted strict fiscal guidelines that told investors what they could expect in Stafford County. We cut many of our taxes and eliminated many regulations that were in place.” She said Stafford County is business-friendly and very successful. She had run on a platform of opening a technology and research center, the ribbon to which was recently cut.

A Soldier’s Wife…

Stimpson moved to Fredericksburg when she was 18. At age 22 and while a senior in college, she met her husband, who was 21 at the time and was an enlisted Marine since the age of 17. He went to the Naval Academy and she spent 15 years of their marriage as a military spouse. “It was real testing and shaping of me as a person, and a lens through which I govern.” On average, they moved every 1.8 years. She said this gives her a greater understanding of veterans’ issues and of military families. The Stimpsons have a 16-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son.

Her website is: susanstimpson.com.

Steel Resolve: “Don’t Know What You’ve Got, Until it’s Gone”

“This week, I’m reminded of those lyrics, ‘you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone,’” Sarah Steelman said as she opened her weekly Steel Resolve segment. “It’s been a week full of tragedy and triumph. The terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon was horrific. Watching Americans come to the aid of others was so heart-warming. The law enforcement efforts by all those involved in identifying and finding the terrorists was impressive. Thank goodness for the first responders and the medical professionals who tended to those in need.”

“What I find interesting, but rather predictable is the response by the audience at sporting events in Boston: the Bruins and the Red Sox games this weekend,” she continued. “At the playing of the National Anthem, the audience response was overwhelmingly singing it at the top of their lungs loudly and defiantly. Watching it gave me goosebumps and lifted my heart about the American Spirit. I love sports, because it brings people together despite their political differences.”

Steelman continued, “my sons played high school football and basketball, and one of my favorite things to do was to join in singing the National Anthem at every single one of their games. Only problem was, I was usually the only one singing, and despite the fact that people next to me probably didn’t want to hear me, I sang every word loud and clear so everyone could hear me – every game, and this is not an exaggeration.”

“My heart broke a little for my country, because people have become so complacent about how lucky we truly are to be Americans, until something bad unites us and then our strength is renewed. I am thankful for that. But, let’s sing from our hearts every single time we get the chance, because you really don’t know what you’ve got, until it’s gone. God bless America,” she concluded.

Down Syndrome 3-Pt Assassin, Mom on SarahNET Radio: Gov Palin made Dream Come True

Owen Groesser and his mom Kari Groesser are on The Palin Radio Update with Kevin Scholla! Owen, a Michigan eighth grader with Down Syndrome became an overnight sensation when he knocked down two three-pointers for his junior high basketball team. His feat landed him on SportsCenter and caught the attention of Governor Sarah Palin. Now, ESPN is doing a lengthy feature on Owen and he even got to meet his favorite Detroit Pistons up close and personal. Tune in to hear Owen’s inspiring story. Meantime, another young man with Down Syndrome is named Prom King in Alaska. Gov. Palin recognizes the newest Alaska Air National Guard members, joins Arizona Governor Jan Brewer in the fight against child abuse, and chides the media for more lies and some ridiculous claims about our children. Also, some spring snow hits Alaska, Governor Palin praises Kirsten Powers for writing about the Kermit Gosnell house of horrors, and questions the priorities of the Obama regime. As Willow Palin graduates, her proud mom offers some advice. Plus, Sarah Palin remembers Holocaust victims and one of her heroes, Margaret Thatcher. Steel Resolve, our weekly commentary with Sarah Steelman is featured as well.

Gov. Palin Cheers Owen Groesser

Back in January, Owen Groesser “converted on two long-range bombs” when he was pulled off the bench and brought into play. “Thanks to Gov. Palin and others the hashtag #GetOwenOnSportsCenter made the rounds and eventually, Owen was featured on ESPN.” The former Alaska Governor posted a Facebook Status Update cheering Groesser on January 24, followed by a complete video of Groesser’s two three-pointers.

The Detroit Pistons hosted Groesser; he took the court with head coach Lawrence Frank, sat in press row and much more. He is set for a second feature on ESPN, Scholla said. “How did it feel to play and to score?” he asked. “Good and fun,” Groesser said.

Coach Hall Makes First Dream Come True

“He was the actual manager of the basketball team,” Kari Groesser said. “One day I went to pick him up from practice and he walked to the car with the coach, and I’m thinking, ‘oh no! What did he do?’ They both had this grin on their faces and Coach Jeff Hall comes up and says, ‘hey, we want to suit up Owen for the last home game of the season. What do you think?’” She continued, “I’m thrilled, I’m excited, because I know for Owen that has been his dream. At our school, basketball is a cut sport. For him to be the manager is one thing. For him to put on the uniform and get out and play was certainly another.”

Gov. Palin Makes Impossible Dreams Become Reality

While Coach Hall made the first dream come true, Gov. Palin made many more a reality. Scholla asked, “What was your reaction to Sarah Palin recognizing your son?”

Kari Groesser said, “we couldn’t believe it. You know, the night that it happened, we went to the game. We had a surprise party to go to. So, literally, we dropped our kids off and said, ‘okay, get your homework done, take your showers, and get off to bed.’ My husband and I were at a restaurant and all of a sudden we started getting these text messages like, ‘this has gone viral,’ ‘he is going to be on the news,’ ‘he is going to be on SportsCenter,’ and my husband and I were kind of chuckling and laughing and going, ‘yeah, yeah, yeah – okay.’”

She continued, “Well, then all of a sudden we get home and there he was. He was on the local news and of course that night he was on SportsCenter, and again the next morning on SportsCenter and then when you figure it out and start talking…Sarah Palin and some of these sports figures had reached out, it just was crazy, and we just sat back in awe, kind of like, ‘is this really happening?’ It’s been a really great journey for Owen and for everybody.”

Groesser’s Night with the Pistons

Scholla asked Owen about his night at the Pistons game. “It was my night,” he said. Kari Groesser added, “I have to say, we showed up and they kind of took him away. He got to do everything the Pistons were doing. He was out on the court with them; he was throwing chest passes. He was with the team before the game; he walked onto the floor with the coach. He even sat with the team during the game and then even after the game, he went back into the locker room, so that was a young man’s dream come true.”

Inclusion, ESPN E:60

Scholla said Owen was good luck for the Pistons, having beat his favored Bulls that night, breaking an 18-game winning streak. “It was a great night,” Kari Groesser said twice. “They just embraced him. Since this has all happened our entire community has embraced him, and we are fortunate to be in a school system that has inclusion so, Owen has always been just one of the guys in every classroom. He has grown up with this community. It’s been great for everyone.”

She said ESPN is doing an E:60 segment on him. It will involve eight days of shooting and air at the end of April, possibly the beginning of May.

Owen is Simply Owen

Scholla asked “what has Owen meant to you and your family on this? He’s really brought people together it seems.” Owen has three sisters, one of whom is older. “They’re typical siblings. They have their good days and bad days,” his mother said. Owen is already well-known in the community even affectionately being called “mayor.” But Kari Groesser said “he walks a little taller and with more confidence now. He talks to everybody; he’s not a shy guy anymore, so in that respect this whole experience has been wonderful for him.”

Scholla quoted Piper Palin as being glad she “doesn’t have a ‘normal’ brother because it would be boring.” For his family and friends, Owen is simply Owen.

Owen Groesser: Basketball, Football, Wrestling, Track

“When I think back about Owen and all of his accomplishments, it’s just been a wonderful journey for him. He not only plays basketball, but he played on the football team,” has been on the wrestling team and is running track for the junior high Kari Groesser said. “He’s always been in sports, has always been very dynamic and athletic.” When raising Owen, Kari Groesser said she never thought of Owen as being “the son with special needs.” He’s always been the brother, he’s always been my son. She said she’s put him in situations that tested him – “I hate to say this – threw him to the wolves to see what he could do and he’s always thrived.”

Owen’s favorite basketball player is Brandon Knight, who plays for the Pistons. Second to basketball, track is Owen’s favorite sport.

Steve Kerr was one of Scholla’s favorite long-range shooters before he became an announcer, and Craig Hodges before him. Owen is his new favorite and he said he is partial to the three-point assassins.

Steel Resolve: The Republican Party’s Margaret Thatcher?

“Why don’t the Republicans have a Margaret Thatcher?” Steelman asked as she opened her weekly Steel Resolve segment. “This is a question I’ve pondered all week and I’m still not quite sure of the answer. It appears that she had three things going for her as a female conservative in a man’s world.” Steelman continued,

“First of all, intellectually she had a deep and cultivated understanding of why conservative principles work to the benefit of all. She didn’t pay lip service to her beliefs or use talking points to regurgitate the same old political rhetoric. She could stand in Parliament and easily defend conservatism against the arguments of the Labour Party as to why her policies would return England to prosperity and lift all citizens. She could easily communicate that to the public without becoming wobbly.”

“Secondly, she was empathetic and compassionate to people. Her understanding and caring about individuals was real and credible, partially because of her background from a working class family. Her father was a grocer who showed and taught her the value of hard work not just to get ahead or get a job, but because it enhanced her self-worth and self-respect. She understood how important that sense of fulfillment was to individuals.”

“Thirdly, she had an impressive, credentialed education, which for female politicians seems to be a prerequisite in order to be taken seriously. She received an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Oxford and eventually became a lawyer. In short – for a female conservative in the States to propel herself past the entrenched establishment Republicans to become a leader or President, she needs to learn the secrets of Margaret Thatcher’s success. Let’s go girls.”

Ed. Note: The Republicans do have their Margaret Thatcher or as we more commonly refer to her by analogy, Ronald Reagan. They just don’t want to recognize Her.

Kevin Scholla, SarahNET Radio first interviewed Bobby Schindler, brother of Terri Schiavo on February 13 to discuss the forthcoming gala fund-raiser featuring former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Brief Chronology of Terri Schiavo’s Life, Terri’s Day

Terri Schiavo would have been 49 this past December. Terri grew up with her brother in Philadelphia. She became disabled at age 26 and needed a feeding tube to sustain her life. This led to a long drawn out court battle between her husband and the Schindler family. Ultimately, Terri’s husband prevailed, the feeding tube was pulled and Terri suffered barbarically, dying a horrible death two weeks later. Pope John Paul II’s final act before his own death days later was to defend Terri’s right to life. She died March 31, 2005 of starvation and dehydration when her feeding tube was cut off.

Terri’s Day was established to commemorate her death and also to “recognize the disabled who are in the cross hairs of an anti-life culture,” Schindler said. A mass at the Basilica Cathedral will precede the gala at which Gov Palin will speak.

Schindler said his sister “had a great sense of humor, was easy to get along with, had a deep love for animals, and was very close to her family.”

The Schindlers spent birthdays, Christmases and other holidays together as a family. Bobby and Terri went through the parochial school system and enjoyed their childhoods. “It was a very special time of our lives,” Schindler said.

He says he now remembers her by fighting for others in similar conditions.

Who Better to Speak at Terri’s Day Gala than Gov Palin?

“We are so blessed and fortunate to have Gov. Palin speak this event. Who better than someone who fought so hard for what she believed in and even coined the phrase, ‘death panels,’ which is really what we are dealing with on a day-to-day basis with our foundation now. So, we’re just very happy that she will be kicking off our gala – our first one – and we couldn’t think of anyone better to represent the cause of life,” Schindler said.

Terri Schiavo and Culture of Life

Scholla asked if the death of Terri Schiavo brought about improvements in the dignity of life by bringing these issues to the fore. “That’s a very difficult question to answer,” Schindler said. “In some ways it is and some ways no.” He said media reporting about his sister’s death has created a lot of confusion and in some ways perpetuated the notion that the lives of people with certain disabilities have no value and can be terminated at will.

Terri’s Day Sponsors Needed

He agreed with Scholla in that “Terri is still with us” to remind people of the value of life. Schindler said ObamaCare places less value on the lives of the elderly and those with debilitating disabilities. He made his foundation his life’s work. Schindler hopes to establish an outpatient rehab in Terri Schiavo’s name to help those with brain injuries. The rehab would be in the Philadelphia area and open within the next year or two. Money raised from sponsorships at the gala will go toward building the rehab center.

The gala is at 1930 / 7:30 EDT after the Mass. Complete information on tickets and sponsorships is at lifeandhope.com.

SarahNET Radio: Values Coaltion Founder on 30-Year History, Palin Support

Reverend Lou Sheldon of the Traditional Values Coalition is the guest on The Palin Radio Update with Kevin Scholla! Sheldon started TVC over thirty years ago and his group is fighting harder than ever. Hear about the battle against ENDA and find out what other issues are most important in the country today. Sheldon tells Kevin which politicians in Washington are standing up for the American family. Sheldon also discusses Sarah Palin, calling her a ‘wonderful person’ who has found the truth and knows how to say it in a positive and rational manner. Also, Governor Plain and countless others Stand With Rand during and after Senator Paul’s historic filibuster. Plus, Willow Palin and two of her friends go to bat for those with special needs and Governor Palin shines at Southeastern University’s seventh annual leadership forum. Steel Resolve, our weekly commentary with Sarah Steelman is also featured. Steelman weighs in on Rand Paul’s bold move in DC.

History to Serve Gov. Palin Well. She Will be a “Great Idol”

Rev. Sheldon has been an enthusiastic supporter of Gov. Palin for years and he agrees with her on almost all fronts. “I just wish the state would have defended her better and that she would not have had to resign as governor, although those false accusations had to be cleared up and they were all cleared up. So, history will do her well. She’ll be a great idol.”

Scholla noted that when the accusations were made, they were front page news, but when Gov. Palin was cleared, it was buried if even mentioned. “Well, that’s the mentality and the DNA of the liberal press. They don’t want to tell the truth. They just want to tear down and be the prophets of doom. They cannot deal with the fact that someone has found the truth and is able to speak it in a rational and positive manner,” Rev. Sheldon said.

What caught Rev. Sheldon’s eye when Gov. Palin hit the scene and also when the false allegations were leveled was, “well basically she is just a wonderful, wonderful person in her own right. She is an outstanding mother and a quite committed and devoted wife. So this is why I think it is so important to understand. She had such huge crowds. I mean, she was drawing better than job McCain.” He continued, “I attended a lot of those rallies in different parts of the country, especially here in Southern California. She came into the huge stadium and we had 20-some-thousand people. Just jammed. And from experience I knew that I had to get there early, and I did.”

Scholla said Gov. Palin’s speeches still draw huge crowds clamoring to hear her commonsense conservative message. Her speeches at CPAC 2012 and most recently in Florida drew huge crowds. She is slated to speak at CPAC again this week.

Brief History of TVC

TVC was founded over 30 years ago in Orange County, CA because start-up churches could not use rented facilities such as schools for more than six months. Rev. Sheldon was instrumental in getting CA Senate Bill 521 passed, which lifted the 6-month limit provided their operations were conducted outside of teaching hours.

He moved on to other issues such as pro-life and the gay agenda. This took his organization into the early 1990s. Then, Rev. Sheldon went to Washington to take on national issues. He fought successfully to have Bible studies be permitted at schools which receive federal funding provided it is done outside instructional hours.

Rev. Sheldon recounted how Lyndon Baines Johnson vindictively pushed through a Senate bill in the 1950s barring 501 (c) 3s from speaking about elected officials. Johnson, a legislator at the time did this to get back at two brothers who said he was soft on communism. Rev. Sheldon is supporting House Bill 147 which would repeal that decades old law, giving churches the right to speak about political issues just as unions do.

While Rev. Sheldon is pleased about the conservative take-over of the US House of Representatives, we took some losses in 2012 and he maintains a guarded optimism for 2014. He is concerned about a California state legislation that proposes to strip churches of their non-profit status at the state level for hosting a Boy Scout troop. He thinks such legislation would violate the First Amendment, however, the leftists backing the bill have a super-majority. “These are the kind of issues we deal with on a day-to-day basis,” Rev. Sheldon said about the TVC.

TVC Uncovers Over $500 Million in Waste

Though fighting for pro-life and traditional marriage is within the Coalition’s purview, they also uncovered over $500 million in waste at the National Institutes of Health. He cited a grant to fund a study on how many drinks it takes for one New York City homosexual student to seduce another. The grant was $250 million per year for three years totaling $750 million. Rev. Sheldon is working with Paul Ryan to expose this waste. Money is needed to research cancer, arthritis, and Alzheimer’s Disease, he said.

The Battle Against ENDA

His daughter, Andrea Lafferty works for TVC and has been at the forefront of fighting the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). While the title suggests fairness and justice, the ENDA means a trans-gender could teach at any public school that receives federal money. The ENDA was defeated in 1994, 2006, and 2010, but has become an issue once more.

The TVC’s website is Traditional Values.

Founding Fathers, Gov. Palin on Faith, Morality, Constitution

Scholla quoted George Washington’s Farewell Address. “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.”

John Adams said, “this Constitution was written only four of religious and moral people. It is unfit for any other,” Rev. Sheldon added. “With all these social issues, it’s totally in the hands of the ‘any others.’”

Scholla said Gov. Palin endorsed great conservatives such as Ted Cruz, Ted Yoho, Deb Fischer and Paul Gosar. He asked Rev. Sheldon if more are needed. “Absolutely. If we do not have these kinds of people, then the wear and tear by the secular godless emphasis will continually come up. They believe in the ‘big lie’: the separation of church and state. Nowhere does our Constitution say that, so this is why we have to have more of the Marco Rubio’s and the Ted Cruz’s, and there’s a great guy in the House – Louie Gohmert and many others. He said Rep. Cotton the new Congressman from Arkansas is another example of a Constitutionally based conservative who also is spiritual principles-based.

Steel Resolve: I Stand With Rand

“Thank goodness for Sen. Rand Paul, a true patriot and statesman. It does my heart good as an American for someone who was elected to have enough passion and guts to standup and defend our precious Constitution,” Sarah Steelman said as she opened her Steel Resolve segment.

She continued, “Sen. Rand Paul drew attention to the fact that Pres. Obama was Unwilling to say ‘no’ to the use of drones for killing American citizens on American soil. I’ll say it again: ‘thank goodness for Sen. Paul’s willingness to do what every Senator Republican or Democrat should’ve done.’ He used the filibuster to not only bring attention to the issue, but have a public discussion about it on the floor of the United States Senate, which is so important to our ability to govern ourselves.”

Steelman went on, “transparency in government is what ensures our ability to hold our elected officials accountable. We have a lazy press and a president who conducts meetings in secret along with Congress. So it is absolutely refreshing for Sen. Rand Paul to take the floor of the Senate and fight for what is right.” She concluded, “he used his power as a member of the minority to get answers to questions, which is the way the filibuster is supposed to work. If every important issue was debated on the floor of the Senate with reasonable arguments presented and with every Senator seated in the chamber and listening, and participating our government might just be more effective.”
