Former State Sen: “Gov. Palin the Cherry on NJ’s Sundae”

We need to stop with conservative and liberal labels and promote traditional values, former NJ State Senator Dick LaRossa said on this week’s Palin Update with Kevin Scholla. “Honesty is gone from the entire political system,” and only traditional values can restore it, he said. Scholla said former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has endorsed who she believed was right for the job, whether the candidate is an incumbent or outsider. “She’s absolutely dead on the money when she” speaks about traditional values such as freedom and Constitution. “I’m glad she is blazing a new path,” LaRossa said.

He continued, “I’d love to see her in the Garden State. I think she is a magnet. We have…80 to 100 Tea Party groups. If I put the word out there that we were going to bring Gov. Palin in, I think you would see an outpouring of tremendous support for her across the board….the Republican intelligentsia might not be right there, but I guarantee you, the people would come out in droves.”

Scholla and LaRossa spoke about New Jersey’s uniqueness from its rural northwest to its beaches. You can cross the entire state in 90 minutes, ski in the winter and swim in the summer. LaRossa said, many New Jersey residents “would love to see Gov. Palin,” and the state will be hosting the forthcoming Super Bowl. “Gov. Palin would be the cherry on the sundae.”

LaRossa said Republicans can win in a Blue state with the right candidate and message, by speaking to values not labels. In New Jersey, Republicans need Democrats to win. Scholla pointed out that Gov. Palin worked with Democrats in Alaska on her core accomplishments.

LaRossa heads Solutions for New Jersey, which is a 501 (c) 3 organization dealing with charity care, government debt, crime, property taxes, and school funding. He announced lottery drawings from 1980 to 1992 and sang for 30 years with a Swing band.

Scholla met LaRossa at Gov. Palin’s Schiavo speech. “Many who went were not fans but walked out convinced,” LaRossa said. He said people should hear her first-hand rather than pay attention to the caricatures painted of her. Scholla said, “if you do actually look at her great accomplishments and her unique style, it’s pretty hard to walk away with a straight face and say, ‘she’s not on the ball.’” LaRossa amplified the point. “I think she is tremendously on the ball. She is incredibly bright. She makes a great visual presentation. … She did almost an hour speech at the Life and Hope event and did not miss a beat. She was so incredibly engaging. It’s impossible for someone doing an objective evaluation not to come away incredibly impressed by that lady.”

Steel Resolve: On Benghazi

“Contrary to what Hillary thinks, it does make a difference to understand why things went down the way they did that night. Understanding why and what went wrong will help prevent it from happening again,” Sarah Steelman said. “Not one Democrat is willing to stand up to the Clinton-Obama machine to find the truth.”

Dr. Gina on SarahNET Radio: Wife Swap Differences About Citizen Engagement

Dr. Gina Loudon is the guest on The Palin Radio Update with Kevin Scholla! Loudon recently appeared on Wife Swap and as expected the liberal program attempted to make her look bad for being a conservative Christian, even though the other family consisted of a couple that shares a girlfriend. Dr. Gina tells Kevin why she went on the show and why she believes we must infiltrate pop culture just like Sarah Palin has suggested. Governor Palin is loaded for bear! A new SarahPAC video has been released. Plus Palin remembers a fallen hero and delivers messages for Passover and Good Friday. Steel Resolve, our weekly commentary with Sarah Steelman is featured as well.

Wife Swap Episode Featuring Loudons, Envys

“We knew what were were signing up for,” Dr. Gina Loudon said about Wife Swap, an ABC reality show, she and her husband John participated in. According to the show’s producer, “In this new series, the mothers in two celebrity families with vastly diverse values switch homes (but not bedrooms) — embarking on a journey like no other and revealing the various ways some controversial celebrities live their lives.” Conservatives “need to take on the culture,” said Dr. Gina, co-author of Ladies and Gentlemen: Why the Survival of our Republic Depends on the Revival of Honor. “We need to be on the front lines of the culture conversation,” she said adding that John and her prayed long and hard before going on the show.

People Can See Through the Edits

“We knew there would be edits, but we also knew people would see through it,” Dr. Gina said. The comments on the show’s episode page appear to bear out her assertion. Despite portraying the polyamorous family with whom the Loudons were swapped as heroes and the Loudons as “right-wing extremist nuts,” comments toward the polyamorous Envy family are running highly negative. Dr. Gina said she could not discuss the reasons why the Loudons did not go to the round-table meeting that concludes the Wife Swap episodes, for contractual reasons but said she would divulge as much as possible on her own show throughout the week.

“I was thrown out,” she said. She used the “pearls before swine” analogy and continued, “sometimes you say what you have to say. It’s either falling on open minds and hearts…I wasn’t getting through…conservatives need to know when to say when and how to spend time wisely.”

Scholla said, “the guy they paired you with had all sorts of anger issues and called you all kinds of profane names. Him and his wife shared a girlfriend. I thought it was their daughter at first.” Indeed, many of the negative comments on the episode’s page are related to the polyamorous husband’s behavior toward Dr. Gina, and the women in his life – even among leftists who panned Dr. Gina and the Tea Party.

Rush Limbaugh on Dr. Gina’s Portrayal on Wife Swap

If we Don’t Take Risks, we are Certain to Lose

“I take Rush’s comparison of me to Gov. Palin as a compliment, but disagree with Rush about staying out of the culture. We need to engage. We might win, we might lose, but we have to take risks. We are certain to lose if we don’t do it,” Dr. Gina said. “They will always laugh and criticize conservatives….People are now talking about this who weren’t talking about politics before. I think that’s a good thing.”

Don’t Have to Compromise Conviction to be Compassionate

Dr. Gina said her quote “if you can’t defend your rights, you don’t have any rights” was quoted back to her at least a dozen times, so it’s resonating. “If you aren’t offending somebody, you aren’t saying anything,” she said. She harkened back to Pastor Rick Warren who said the following two statements are lies: “if you disagree with someone’s culture or lifestyle, you must fear or hate them,” and “to love means you agree with everything they believe or do.” Both are wrong, Dr. Gina said. “You don’t have to compromise conviction to be compassionate, and we can love people even if we disagree.”

Scholla noted that on the episode “saying anything about homosexuality was no good, but mocking Christ as a ‘comic book figure’ was just fine.” He continued that Mr. Envy – the wrestler husband – was shocked about Dr. Gina’s rules – “no one tells my kids what to do!” – but he signed up for that by doing the show. As part of Wife Swap, the swapped wives draw up rules for how the house runs during their stay there.

We Must Be Culture Warriors

Dr. Gina said there was a lot of editing on both sides. For instance, the polyamorous wife laughed at a lot of John Loudon’s jokes. The job of a reality show producer is to entertain, Dr. Gina said, not to be accurate. “We have to know that and not be afraid to laugh at ourselves.” She said it is not fair for Palinistas to compliment Gov. Palin for being a culture warrior and not be culture warriors ourselves.

Scholla said the narration of the show was dishonest – for instance the “inconsistencies” in Dr. Gina’s record and in John Loudon breaking a rule that was never broken. Dr. Gina said she thinks Mr. Envy was emotionally and mentally abusive – something the negative comments on the show’s page also extensively point to. “There were definite differences in how he runs his household and how I do,” she said. “John helps around the house, and I’m used to that.” Dr. Gina described her Wife Swap experience as being a culture clash. “No one seeks to live in an uncomfortable situation. That part of Reality TV is very real.”

Scholla also pointed out that the polyamorous wife who was paired with John Loudon barred all talk of religion and politics in the house. Mrs. Envy’s husband, meanwhile never voted in his life. “Not merely a low-information voter but a no-information voter,” Scholla said.

Differences About Citizen Engagement, Not Family Structure, Relationships

“When you are here and enjoying the freedoms – which by the way he (the polyamorous husband) was enjoying – because of this Constitution and the teeth it has because of the Second Amendment, it’s his obligation as a citizen to be involved…take part…and be able to speak about it in coherent terms,” Dr. Gina said.

She said the greatest difference between the two families was not family structure and relationships as the show led viewers to believe, rather it was the difference in attitudes toward civic involvement and engagement.

“To each his own. I respect the right for people to have freedom of religion, but you have to the responsibility to know where those freedoms are based. That’s what I was trying to get through about the Constitution and the Second Amendment. With that piece of paper, he has the freedoms he was trying to get me to condone. It’s not my business to condone it, but without the Second Amendment, that piece of paper has no teeth,” Dr. Gina said.

“The conversation became circular. Why was it okay to say ‘no’ to politics and religion but not okay to say ‘no’ to polygamy?” Dr. Gina asked, following up with, “Liberals will use this. We need to be prepared, not afraid.”

Scholla chuckled that Dr. Gina – who adopted a child with Down Syndrome – was called “evil” He said, “Dr. Gina kept her cool and didn’t flinch, while the wrestler dude screamed at a woman.” He said Dr. Gina was very “Palinesque.”

Change Happens When Lives Touch, People Communicate

Dr. Gina said she did not get to the meet either Mrs. Envy or the girlfriend. “I wish those women all the best. I saw some changes were made. It always happens when lives touch and people communicate.”

No Issue is an Island

Scholla asked when gay marriage suddenly became the most important issue. Dr. Gina said no issue can be isolated – ultimately, they are all inter-related. Gay marriage has economic implications. So does abortion, especially when taxpayer funding is involved.

“Sarah Palin has illustrated how we can engage the culture,” Dr. Gina said, adding that Reality TV is a “fertile battleground,” in which to do that and “we have an obligation to fight.

Steel Resolve: Politics, Supreme Court Decisions Doth Make Strange Bedfellows

“Politics makes strange bedfellows as they say and sometimes so does the Supreme Court justices,” Sarah Steelman said as she opened her Steel Resolve segment. “Thankfully, there are conservatives who still believe in protecting our Fourth Amendment rights. The Supreme Court correctly ruled this week that using a drug sniffing police dog on a suspect’s property without a warrant violates the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unreasonable searches.”

Steelman continued, “Scalia was joined in the majority by Justices Clarence Thomas, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Sonya Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Stephen Breyer all dissented. The ruling said there is an expectation of privacy in your home and police officers can’t bring a trained drug sniffing dog to your front door. They have to obtain a warrant first.”

“‘When it comes to the Fourth amendment the home is first among equals,’ Justice Scalia wrote. This right would be of little practical value if the states agents could stand at a home’s front porch or side garden and trawl for evidence with impunity which is what the Miami-Dade police force were doing in this case with trained dogs.” She concluded, “it is good to say that at least two conservatives Justices Thomas and Scalia were not afraid to join with the liberals on the court when it comes to protecting the Bill of Rights. Like I said, sometimes politics or Supreme Court decisions make strange bedfellows.”

Conservative HQ: Gov. Palin, Rove, and 100-Year GOP War on Grassroots

palin-fb8

The Republican Party has been waging war on its own grassroots for over 100 years and winning, because up till now, those targeted had no idea they were even in a fight, the staff of Conservative HQ wrote March 22, 2013.

Because former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has rallied the GOP’s grassroots conservatives, she has drawn their anger. The fight against cronyism “is as much, or more a fight with Republican insiders, like Karl Rove, than it is with liberals and Democrats,” the staff wrote.

The Tea Party is not merely a rebellion against Obama, but is equally a rebellion against the GOP abandoning its principles. “When the election was over and McCain’s content-free campaign went down in flames, the grassroots looked to Sarah Palin for the conservative leadership and inspiration that no other major Republican figure was offering.”

ConservativeHQ staff said the grassroots conservatives with Gov. Palin as their leader were akin to peasants with pitchforks and scythes rebelling against a king and his lords in the castle, making them unhappy. Establishment insiders make money whether Republican campaigns win or lose. Gov. Palin and her supporters are a mortal threat to them, because by educating conservatives that “content-free” campaigns are worthless, “the entire feudal system of the establishment Republican Party would collapse, and [the establishment insiders] would be out an awful lot of money.”

Gov. Palin’s message goes back to the days that Teddy Roosevelt founded the progressive Bull Moose Party, which went defunct eons ago.

“What is new is that, perhaps for the first time since Ronald Reagan became a national candidate, the grassroots conservatives who supply the votes, manpower and contributions to elect Republicans are beginning to understand that to get governance according to conservative principles, they first have to throw-out the current Republican establishment and then elect principled limited government constitutional conservatives as their leaders.

Leaders such as Sarah Palin.”

Whether Gov. Palin will run for elective office again is an unknown, ConservativeHQ staff wrote, but “right now Sarah Palin is performing a service greater than almost any she might fulfill in public office, and that is rallying grassroots conservatives to reject the inside “business as usual” elite of the Republican establishment and demanding leaders who are willing to stand for, and fight for, limited government constitutional conservative principles.”

ConservativeHQ staff said if Gov. Palin helps conservatives win this 100-year war “for the soul of the Republican Party…she will have earned her place among America’s great political leaders whether or not she ever again holds public office.”

The ConservativeHQ petition to Rove demanding that he stop disrespecting Gov. Palin is still running, and Palinistas should should it.

False Stories Spread on Gov Palin’s Departure from Fox

Image lies-crosshairs-300x107.png

Real Clear Politics reported on January 23 that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was not renewing her contract with Fox News. Scott Conroy cited an anonymous source “close to the Palins” as saying, “It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement.” Gov. Palin re-affirmed this account in an interview with Stephen K. Bannon, Producer of The Undefeated on Breitbart News and announced by her in a Facebook Status post. Bannon asked Gov. Palin, “what’s next for you?” She responded:

“I encourage others to step out in faith, jump out of the comfort zone, and broaden our reach as believers in American exceptionalism. That means broadening our audience. I’m taking my own advice here as I free up opportunities to share more broadly the message of the beauty of freedom and the imperative of defending our republic and restoring this most exceptional nation. We can’t just preach to the choir; the message of liberty and true hope must be understood by a larger audience” (emphasis mine).

No one from Fox News has disputed Gov. Palin’s account in any way, shape or form.

Despite the simple facts being what they are, a disturbing array of false stories have been published to the effect that “Fox News dumped Sarah Palin,” and that she is “irrelevant.” These phony stories have appeared in the usual left-wing publications such as Huffington Post.

Simply put, Fox News offered Gov. Palin a renewal contract. She declined it so she can bring her message to a larger audience. By staying with Fox, her contract would have precluded her conducting interviews with other networks, except with rare prior permission. Renewing the contract would have meant more preaching to the choir – because Fox News’ audience is Gov. Palin’s choir so to speak. Those who say that Fox “dumped her,” are telling lies, plain and simple.

The original Breitbart interview now has over 3,800 comments. The people who claim Gov. Palin is “irrelevant” cannot stop talking about her. When our Second Amendment came under attack, a major Tea Party group did not reach out to those some would consider “relevant.” They called out to the “irrelevant” one: Gov. Palin. That Facebook post yielded nearly 181,000 likes and 13,725 comments. How many “relevant” people would kill for these numbers? Time Magazine’s Senior Editor Mark Halperin acknowledged on the Today Show that Gov. Palin still “has so much star power.”

Nor, is Gov. Palin’s relevance strictly in the political realm. She is speaking at a leadership conference in March and is the gala keynote at a major event commemorating Terri Schiavo.

Fox News like any other TV network lives and dies by ratings. If you lose your ratings, you lose your show and no TV network is going to keep you a day longer than they need you. Irrelevant people are not offered contract renewals and most often don’t even get to complete an existing contract. If Gov. Palin’s ratings had tanked and she had ceased to be relevant, Fox News would have cited poor ratings and the decision to not renew would have been theirs. But, Gov. Palin’s ratings were strong and Fox offered her the renewal. As previously reported and stated – she declined the renewal so she can broaden her reach to new markets.

Gov. Palin is highly relevant. Her potential reach to markets outside Fox News strikes fear and loathing in the hearts of her enemies, because she remains – as Stephen Bannon put it – an existential threat to the way they conduct business.

"Palin: ‘We Haven’t Yet Begun to Fight’"

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today posted this Status Update on Facebook:

Palin: ‘We Haven’t Yet Begun to Fight!’—Exclusive Interview with Breitbart News
www.breitbart.com
In my research for the film I made on Governor Palin, The Undefeated, I was constantly amazed at the anti-establishment stands she took at every step in her rise to power. Moves that a conventional politician would run from, she embraced: in Wasilla, in Juneau, and in the rise of the Tea Party.

Retrieved from: http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin/posts/508289715890287.

Ed. Notes:

Following are salient points and quotes from Gov. Palin in this interview with Breitbart News:

Gov. Palin plans to jump out of her comfort zone and reach broader audiences, not merely preach to the choir. This is likely the basis of her decision to not renew her contract with Fox News.

“Focus on the 2014 election is also imperative. It’s going to be like 2010, but this time around we need to shake up the GOP machine.” She continued, “We’re not going to be able to advance the cause of limited constitutional government unless we deal with these big government enablers on our side. And this all ties into the problem of crony capitalism and the permanent political class in the Beltway. We need to consistently take them on election after election – ever vigilant.”

For her long-term future, Gov. Palin said, “the door is wide open.”

Gov. Palin said Obama’s first term was a very good predictor of his current one. About 2012 and lessons learned, she said, “Conservatism didn’t lose. A moderate Republican candidate lost after he was perceived to alienate working class Reagan Democrat and Independent voters who didn’t turn out for him as much as they did for the McCain/Palin ticket in 2008. Granted, those same voters also didn’t turn out for Obama as strongly either.

Gov. Palin continued, “we had an election defined by a biased media plus millions of voters who sat it out in disgust. As long as we allow the media and GOP establishment to tell us who our nominees must be, we can expect to lose. I’m not interested in losing. America’s next generation can’t afford another loss.”

In answer to a question on whether the Tea Party movement is dead, Gov. Palin responded, “I was raised to never retreat and to pick battles wisely, and all in due season. When it comes to defending our republic, we haven’t begun to fight! But we delight in those who underestimate us.”

Mr. L: Romney, RNC Play Silly Game with Gov. Palin and GOP Convention Invite

Hard-hitting Palinista, Mr. L said about the Republican Party establishment’s mentality as the primaries were concluding, “‘we have to do party unity. We have to have conservatives and Republicans coming together. It’s all got to work. We have to beat Obama.’ … and this is how you think the strategy is to be? To play a stupid game with a stupid, antiquated convention? You can’t give this woman the respect she deserves?”

Offered Two Speaking Slots in ’08 Before VP Pick. Now?

He continued, “she was offered two slots in 2008 before she was even picked as VP. In those emails, you see it. And now, they are playing this game with thinking about not inviting her, and then the snub – maybe she will get invited and we’ll have to sit and take it when they give her a crappy spot in the speaker’s list, ‘and we’re going to trickle out all these names, just to get you to bust.’ And all these names that they’re tricking out are all these identity groups….it’s the same thing as what the Democrats do. The identity politics, instead of what Reagan fought for, which was to empower the individual.”

Mr. L believes that if Gov. Palin is given a lesser spot, she should decline. I originally shared this opinion, but retracted it. I now think Gov. Palin would turn that lemon into lemonade for the good of the country. As a C4P commenter (moniker: wpmwindsong) pointed out in a conversation with me about this, “She has always said that it is not about any one person. It is about saving America. That is why she is a treasure. It’s not about her.” The commenter also pointed out that “prime time is not about the time, but about the person.” Simply spoken, any time for Gov. Palin will be turned into prime time. I agree, but I do share Mr. L’s anger over how Gov. Palin has been treated.

Onus for Party Unity on Romney and RNC

The RNC and the Romney campaign still have made no effort to reach out to the conservative base, Tea Partiers, and Palinistas to bring about this party unity. The onus is on the RNC and the Romney campaign to bring about the needed unity.

Gov. Palin has gone far beyond the call of duty in this regard on her end. On June 19, she said she’d vote for Romney in a heartbeat over Obama. On August 1, Gov. Palin said she has ‘No hatchet to bury’ with Mitt Romney. Following is her complete quote from that interview:

Well, I know, speaking personally, there is no hatchet to bury or no olive branch that needs to be extended between Mitt Romney and myself. We have a good relationship, and I have a great respect for him and I’m so thankful that the GOP has a strong candidate who understands the private sector and what it takes to get the economy roaring again – that he will be our candidate. So, I can’t speak though for their strategy and who it is that they will choose to be participants in the convention.

In the foregoing, Gov. Palin expresses her respect for Romney – whose operatives have a history of trying to politically destroy her for these past four years – and acknowledged that he is the nominee. She put this past behind her for the good of the country. Further, the Palinista community took great pains in the latter weeks of June and the early weeks of July to to root out irrational people who continue to push for a “miracle in Tampa,” traffic in “stealth campaign” conspiracies, spam websites with their slogans, and utterly refuse to get on board with Gov. Palin’s mission as she has chosen to execute it. Gov. Palin and the Palinista community have answered the call for party unity in the main and we’re certainly not going to vote for Obama.

Palinistas Not Alone in Feeling Alienated

And, it’s not just Palinistas who feel alienated. From NewsMAX’s Social Conservatives Demand Prime-Time Slot At GOP Convention:

“I think social conservatives are puzzled as to Romney’s effort, or lack thereof, toward intensifying the turnout of social conservatives,” former Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell told Newsmax on Tuesday.

“It’s not as if social conservatives are not economic conservatives,” he added. “So if you think you can marginalize social conservatives and not impact economic conservatives, you’re foolish. Among a growing number of conservatives, their conservatism is indivisible.”

“Much of the social-conservative angst could be assuaged in a single stroke, if former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the gold standard when it comes to rousing the party’s grass-roots base, were given a prominent role.”

Whether the Romney campaign and the RNC will listen remains to be seen.

Voting for Romney? Or Against Obama

Mr. L spoke about his dealings with some Romney supporters and how they said that if he didn’t support Romney, he was “supporting Obama.” This line of attack does not surprise me in the least, because “Anybody But Obama” (ABO) is the underpinning of most of Romney’s support base. In A Sign of Things to Come?, I cited a National Journal article which stated that over 60% of Romney’s supporters are behind him not because they’re voting for him, but because they are voting against Obama.

Can Romney Really Afford to Disregard GOP Base?

Rasmussen Reports – which polls likely voters and is considered highly reliable – has a daily Presidential Tracking Poll. Today, Romney and Obama are in a dead heat with both men at 45%. Obama was leading by 1% yesterday. Yes, Romney out-raises Obama by a significant margin, but money alone is not going to help him defeat Obama. His polling numbers should be better than this.

Romney has to to close the sale with more voters; again the Romney campaign is responsible to bring about that unity. Mr. L noted that he receives a very high volume of campaign literature and phone calls from the Romney campaign soliciting donations. I can vouch for the volume, which averages at least one communique daily, not counting emails, which alone sometimes average up to three or more daily. The Romney campaign would get a lot more mileage by reaching out to conservatives of all stripes. Giving Gov. Palin the respect she deserves would be a good place to start unification.

The current course of taking conservatives – Palinista or otherwise – for granted is not a winning strategy, especially when Romney’s poll numbers should show him in a decisive lead and instead show him in a dead heat some days and behind Obama on others. Romney needs all the votes he can get. He is not in a position to alienate large constituencies – especially in the swing states.

Mr. L’s Synopsis

Following is Mr. L’s synopsis on his broadcast:

Mitt Romney & RNC have still not invited Sarah Palin to the Republican National Convention. Did you know that before she became a VP candidate, she was set to speak at TWO time slots at the 2008 convention? It’s in Palin’s emails. Now these bums in the GOPe and Romney campaign play their little game being hesitant about offering her one prime speaking slot. Frankly, a Romney GOPe diss against Sarah Palin is a diss against all grass roots conservatives and tea party patriots. They continue to do this at their own peril. Why I will NEVER defend Romney on ANYTHING ever again. Dealing with moronic Romney supporters online.
